Originality/Style

The Goth Rock Band with female vocalist has been done before. However, Lacuna Coil has a very unique sound. They combine slow but heavy guitar riffs with melodic vocals; she sings like an angel. The album features a song in Italian (as their previous albums have) and it is hauntingly beautiful. The male vocals are a little strange but when combined with Scabbia's angelic melody, it works out.

Instrumental Abilities/Skills

The album is rather simple; no fancy solos or interludes. Straight power chord and melodic riffs. Scabbia's voice earns a lot of merit here though.

Duration/Entertainment

The tracks are all average length. The exception is Aeon and it is really an intro to Tight Rope. The album is satisfactory in length and will entertain the listener: start to finish.

Quality

CD is enhanced and contains the video track: "The Making of Comalies". I would have preferred a music video or musical photo gallery. It is still entertaining. I am not too familiar with Century Media but the album is well recorded and produced. Kudos.

OVERALL -15/20- Comments

A friend of mine had seen Lacuna Coil at Jaxx NightClub and told me to check into them. It took a year or so but I finally picked up "Comalies". I was so impressed with the album that I immediatly went searching for other albums. This album is definitely worth picking up. Stay tuned because LC is releasing a new album in March 2006.
