I was unable to attend this class but Gloria was kind enough to share the photo of her painting that she did.

This painting was a little different as it required some preparation in advance of the class. Out instructor, Kim, had taken contact paper and cut ovals for each canvas. Then she lined up the contact paper on each canvas, making sure there were no bubbles in the contact paper as well as making sure the edges around the oval were pressed firmly in place so that paint would not seep under the contact paper. (A lot of work to prepare for us students!!!) Then she used a black gesso and, well, you can see from the early photos how the black gesso was pre-painted on each canvas.

I forgot to take my camera, so my photos are limited this time. Our instructor has a finished painting that is in the front of the store to show what we will be painting the next time. But when we are actually in class, we don't see her finished painting. She takes us through the entire painting, step by step as she paints one in the front of the classroom. It's really cool. And everyone's paintings have their own individual touch, the way we hold our brushes, the way we mix our colors. So each persons painting is unique! Really a cool way to learn new techniques!
