Please be patient. I need to list and photograph my vials of sand to add to this page. Soon, I promise!

The History of My Sand Collecting

I began collecting sand when I was about 10 years old. My mom and I worked on the Sand Honor which was part of the Pathfinders Club Honors you could earn (similar to girls and boys scouts badges). I earned the Honor, but continued to love collecting sand. My mom passed away when I was 14 years old and I put away my various collections as I was busy with life in general. However, I've always tried to grab a small jar of sand when I visit places or when family and friends go on travel, they kindly remember that I have a sand collection!

Over the years, we have moved several times and the sand collection (as well as other collections) have travelled with me. The last move we made, I noticed some sand had leaked from a box and was upset that some of the vials had broken and the sand was lost. But to my joy, only a couple vials had come open and the two vials that were lost, well, bless my mom for her diligence, I had some large backup jars of the same sand to replace the two small vials!!!

My goal is to get all the sand reorganized and labeled and put it in some sort of display case or shadowbox frame. (I have about 50 in my collection, currently). Many, many thanks to my friends and family who have scooped me up a jar of sand on their various vacations! And remember me, all of you out there, when you travel or even from where you live!
