I simply cannot believe how much junk we have accumulated over the years! We're cleaning out the basement and I must've had 20 boxes of romance novels! Some of them just had to be tossed, got wet when our heater or whatever that thingy is, leaked on the floor. I've gone through them and only kept my most favorite authors for now that didn't get wet and moldy. And old clothes, which haven't fit for 20 years. Jim had old computer stuff that was broken and so out of date, so we're hauling a pickup truck load to the dump, hopefully, every week until we get things under control. I have stuff, music books, etc that I'd like to bring upstairs, but looks like I need to de-clutter the upstairs before I add anything else to my "piles"! We've been working in the basement 3-4 hours a week, going through boxes that we packed in Laurel 1978 to move to apt #2, Laurel 1984 to move to Westminster, Westminster 1995 to move to Colonial Beach and then 1996 to move into our current house. Some of these have never been gone through. So it's a very slow process. We've killed at least one or two more black widows. Jim has been going after them daily and I think we're winning the battle with both them and the millipedes. Ankle and heel seem much better today. Yes, it still hurts some, but swelling has gone down completely and the double doses of Tylenol are doing the trick. Will go back to my regular dosages tomorrow.

My turn at church this week and I sang "Been There, Done That". I haven't sung in church for about a year, so I don't think I did as good as I used to do, but everyone seemed to like it anyway. I heard nervousness in my voice which normally I don't feel nervous. The mike and sound system is alot different than just singing at home with a CD or on the computer. Well, I made a promise, a deal with God, that I would sing more if asked and so I'm keeping that promise. I love to do it but it would be more fun if I could have some others up there with me. I have always preferred to sing a harmony part rather than a lead, but I'm keeping my promise. I'll be singing again in 2 weeks. My ankle and heel hurt pretty bad to walk on, but the swelling was down some this morning. Got a little more swollen late afternoon. Added some extra Tylenols to all my regular meds tonight.

Well, so much for entering stuff everyday! Haven't been that faithful, just busy! I did some grocery shopping in town today. Town is 35 miles away, so I only go every 2 weeks or so, sometimes more often, sometimes less, weather, money and health dependent! Tonight, at home, I tripped over my own feet, clumsy me, and fell, sprained my ankle or something. Hurts to put weight on my foot. (I faithfully do this trick about once or twice a year, usually don't break anything, just bruises or sprains, haven't broken any major bones since 1996, when I tripped over a curb and cracked my wrist. Jimmy had broken his arm at school just a couple weeks earlier, so we were both in casts!) But I'm still going to church tomorrow, I'm singing again. Yes, it's been about a year. But I'm ready to do it again. They've been patiently asking me when I will sing again, so here I am. I promised!
July 7, 2005 - Thursday
Expecting the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy to begin in this area today. Weather forecasts currently show us getting 3+ inches of rain. The KG local alert sent out "probable tornado in area thru PM..." Later we received another update saying that all ARES are on alert but no current emergency at this time. It is evening and just started raining. Very humid out, typical tropical storm, however at this time, not much wind. Humid weather gave us some more millipedes in the basement. Jim has been looking for them every night. And finding them. And killing them.
July 6, 2005 - Wednesday
Not much happening today. Went to town to pick up a couple of prescriptions, worked on laundry, did some housework and worked on webpages. I want to get them updated as soon as possible so I can start uploading them by mid-month.
July 5, 2005 - Tuesday
Called Seth tonight to see how his first day of work went. He was excited about all the new things and equipment he will be working with. Said it was really going to be interesting working there. Nothing else going on right now, just trying to catch up on housework--an ongoing thing which NEVER ENDS!!
July 4, 2005 - Monday
Today was Independence Day. We had stayed up so late last night that we all slept in late this morning. Jimmy had to work as usual today but said he wasn't real busy like over the weekend. Jim & I watched ID4 in honor of the holiday and when Jimmy came home from work, they set off some fireworks in the front yard. They accidentally set the tree in front of the house on fire, but by the time they got the hose hooked up, the fire was out. Good thing, since the water wouldn't reach up high enough in the tree to put it out! Never a dull moment!
July 3, 2005 - Sunday
Didn't accomplish alot today. We thought about going to town, but decided to stay home and do some things around the house. Jim cut grass and I worked on the kitchen and my webpages for awhile. Jimmy found a black widow spider in the basement so we're going to attack that problem very soon! UGH! And we got invaded with millipedes. The joys of living in the woods. Jim has worked hard on them today and hopefully we have gotten them out. They don't bite, but who wants them in their basement?
July 2, 2005 - Sabbath
Jim went to church today and I slept in. I couldn't believe that I slept until 10:30 am!! It's not like I stayed up late last night either. While we were on the NM trip, I neglected to take all my meds. Maybe that is what is catching up with me. Takes a week or so to adjust after missing the thyroid stuff. Guess that's why I'm still dragging abit. Should perk up now that I'm taking them again!
July 1, 2005 - Friday
Well, the holiday is upon us and we're looking forward to a 3 day weekend! Jimmy is having to work part of it because they are so busy this time of year. Jim & I will take it easy, trying to catch up on things around the house and yard. After traveling 4000 miles, we need some "down" time to relax. We sure enjoyed going out to New Mexico with Seth to help him settle in at his new apartment! We couldn't have done it without Jimmy's help too. He navigated the entire trip, got us through road construction, traffic and detours along the way. He and Seth did all the heavy work also with the loading and unloading up and down steps. The trip was quite an adventure too. I'll eventually get the stories up on my Vacation pages.
