We're waiting to see what's going to happen with Ernesto. Our local county has sent out the Skywarn stuff to us and others involved in the Skywarn program for our county, to expect rain up to 10 inches and some wind, possible tornadoes. But I'm not as prepared as I would normally be, since this is just going to go past us as less than a tropical storm and secondly, because I can't get around to do the things I would normally do in preparation.
Now if it were hitting as a category 2 or 3 as Isabel did, well, that would definitely be a different story and a lot more prep!!! I'm hoping it won't be a big deal this time! Maybe some rain, a little wind (less than a garden variety thunderstorm only over a longer period of time) and tornado threats, well, we get those all the time with these tropical systems. The worst case scenario is loss of power for a time, hopefully, not too long!
The loop of the motion of Ernesto currently looks like it will come in somewhere in NC just below the Outer Banks area. It seems to be going a little more NE than they had originally said, so maybe the track has changed. Will check tonight after 11pm.
Rechecked the track and NWS is still showing the center of the storm going almost up the 95 corridor which puts us on the stormy side of the tropical system. I don't get so excited about these anymore, after Isabel in 2003. Since she was a category 1 when she went through us, I do NOT look forward to ever having to go through another category 1 or even worse. Not with so many trees, big trees, near our house. We were so lucky last time that none came down on the house. Don't want to think about it!!!!
I have added 5 more pencil-charcoal drawings to my "artwork" pages. Mostly just messin' around, practicing drawing every other night or so. Practice, practice, practice, that's what all artists do. And the more you do it, hopefully the better you get. Bob Ross said one time on one of his programs that he had painted over 5000 paintings or something like that.
From reading stuff about him, I learned that when he was about to tape a show or series of 13 shows, he would practice doing the same photos over and over again, until he could do each one in about 27 minutes. He didn't want to break up the show as they were recording it. He wanted to show folks that you could start and complete a painting in under 30 minutes successfully.
We watched a John Tesh special at Red Rocks, Colorado (on TV of course) where they had a woman come out on stage to draw the face of Jesus. She did it during like one song and it was really good! Each of us is given talents, but you have to practice and use those talents to develop them. I really believe that, in reality, we're all given the same brain and talents. Each person takes the thing they are interested in and that is how a talent is developed. Now, I also believe that though we are given the same talents, the talents themselves vary. One may have been given a great soprano voice, while another is given a bass voice. Same talent, different variation. And then you have the country-bluegrass-southern gospel style....
No one picks up a violin for the first time and plays a classical piece. It takes years and years of practice. Same goes for singing, art or anything like that. Anyway, enough preaching for August!
This is the end of the month. Can you believe the summer is over? Labor Day weekend is upon us and in many cases school has started. This journal will be moved to the archives and the new month will be started. Here's to a good month past and a great one, hopefully, to come!
August 28, 2006 - Monday
What a GREAT weekend we had!!! A friend mentioned that Jeff & Sheri Easter were in town for one night. So we checked into it and went to see them. We were there early, sitting in the parking lot and one of the men at the church asked us if we wanted to come on inside, since it was cooler. We said yes and we sat right in the front center (actually it was on the 4th row) but it was very close to the front. And what a performance!
When we got there, Jeff and his son,Madison and Greg Ritchie, the drummer were setting up the equipment. They've been to this place every year and so they were just chatting with some of the other people of the church as they were setting up! It was SO COOL!!!
They give an UNBELIEVEABLE performance, packed full of the southern gospel that they are famous for! They really have a wonderful ministry. Their oldest son plays the guitar and they had the new baby with them. Charlotte Ritchie, the 3rd party of the three part harmony (who is married to Greg, the drummer) had their little boy, Landon, there who proceeded to sing us a song and tell us a joke! He wasn't shy at all and I can see that, like his parents and the Easters, he will be a real asset to the southern gospel genre in the very near future! Actually, already steels the hearts of the audience!
Their music is so heartfelt and to me, really touches my soul. One moment you'll be laughing and enjoying the comments that Jeff makes and the songs they sing. The next moment, you'll have tears running down your face from the emotions in another of their songs and Sheri's heartfelt singing from deep in her soul, plus the wonderful harmony parts that Jeff Easter and Charlotte Ritchie add in. Some songs, Jeff sings the melody and Sheri joins Charlotte with the harmony. And Jeff too sings from the heart, you can feel it to your toes!!! It's just wonderful, I just can't rave enough about it!!!!
Their harmony is like heaven on earth and I promise, if you ever get the opportunity to see them in person, you'll never regret it. You will enjoy every minute of their program and leave with your heart so uplifted!
I didn't get a chance to meet anyone in the group except for Sheri Easter. And I'll say this about her... Sheri Easter is a gracious lady who takes time to speak with anyone who talks to her. I got a moment at the tables, she shook my hand and was very sweet. You feel like, even with all the commotion around, that her attention is solely on you as you are speaking to her, words I'm sure she hear's hundreds of times at each place they play! Yet, she speaks directly to you as if what you are saying is important and it's the first time she has heard it. Like I said, very nice, very classy lady. And I noticed that all the members of the group were just as gracious. Hopefully, next time I'll get to meet the rest of them, too.
Their ministry is their music and personalities and kindness. You can tell that they are doing what they love and that they have a burning desire to continue this ministry. We will definitely see them again!!! And I must say that it was one of the most enjoyable evenings I have ever spent!!!
I've been on such a HIGH since their program! I have their songs in my heart, their smiles, their words, WHAT A RUSH!!! I even dreamed the whole concert over in my sleep last night!!! Even now, their new songs are running through my head, not just the great tunes and harmony, but the words. And as our pastor always says, Words mean something! It's true, what a ministry Jeff & Sheri Easter have!!!
That's my piece of heaven on earth, the music, the harmony, the genuine love of it seen in their actions, words and songs. I cannot give enough thanks and express how much the whole evening meant to me. And I thank Pat for mentioning it in church and I thank Jim most of all for pursuing the info needed to find out where and when and to get me there, knowing how much I would love it!!! And I DID!!!
And we got their new CD and DVD!!!
August 25, 2006 - Friday
Happy Birthday Laurie !!!!!!
Did some more scanning today. Other than that, got a little grocery shopping done. Tired tonight!
August 24, 2006 - Thursday
I've added data to the Anderson and Jones surname pages. Other than scanning some more genealogy documents, that's all I've added for this week. Better than nothing.
Getting around better now with the new cast. Can actually walk short distances without the crutches. Not for long and not far but at least a little! And I cooked scrambled eggs for myself for breakfast! That's the first time I've been able to stand at the stove long enough to do anything! So progress is happening!!!!!
I'll be glad when I can do more, work on the housework, get back to cooking and cleaning....what AM I thinkin'???? That's nuts. I'd better be more careful and go a little slower and stay off this ankle and .....
Nah, seriously, I'll be happy to have my independence back! With freedom comes responsibilities, I've always told my boys. Freedom is worth it!
August 23, 2006 - Wednesday
Well, I suppose this month has been rather boring for anyone reading this journal. I'm not doing anything, hardly accomplishing even the smallest of tasks, working mainly on the webpages and genealogy, but still not getting as much done as I would like. And I'm still just making lists of things I want to accomplish each day and only marking off one or two items. It will change eventually.
Today I'm still trying to get used to the new cast. It's alot tighter than any of the previous ones (mostly due to less swelling in my leg and ankle). So now it swells (like normal) but feels way too tight almost immediately. So I'm not able to sit up at the computer for as long as I was. Also with new "pressure points", spots that rub different places, causing some new blisters and such. That will take care of itself in a day or two, so no biggy. Just a little minor irritation for now. But I sure like the light blue color!
I'm sure I'll be sick of it when 4 weeks are almost over, just like all the colors before this.
August 22, 2006 - Tuesday
New cast is on. Got a light blue one this time. But the doctor is going to make me wear this one for 4 weeks. That will make 12 weeks in a cast. I asked if this would be the last one and he wouldn't agree, said we'll see. He did say I could start using that foot to balance and put a little weight on it now. He also gave me a "boot" type sandal to use when I'm going to use my crutches. New casts are always uncomfortable for the first 48 hours or so. New pressure points that rub blisters and pinch when it swells. But in a couple days it will be better and I'll be used to it.
Anyway, the light blue is a nice change. But I'll be SO glad when the casts are off completely and I can go to the "boots" and just use the crutches. PLUS, he has agreed that once I start the physical therapy, if all goes well, then I will probably be able to drive again and not have to wait until next year!!!!! HURRAY!!!
I'll have all the casts photos soon! And you'll see them here, first, in this journal!!!
August 20, 2006 - Sunday
My cast has been disintegrating for over a week now. Since each cast costs the insurance company around $400, don't you think the doctor would reimburse them for some of it? I noticed last week as we were leaving church that I was leaving a pink trail. I had Jim trying to stop and pick up all the pieces that we saw, once we realized it, but I worried that I'd have a worse problem this week, since it's been shedding all week in the house. And I didn't want to leave a mess for anyone else at church, so I didn't go this week.
I should get a new one soon. We did go to the new Target today. Wow. Pretty nice. I was riding the electric cart all around, pricing stuff to compare with my other "haunts". Target prices were about the same if not a little better in the grocery areas compared to Wal-Mart. Other areas are also approximately the same, except for DVD's. I think Wal-Mart has better prices on DVD's than Target for the most part. Target did have a good selection of the Christian Gospel CD's for the same prices as Wal-Mart CD's.
I didn't see as big of a selection of school supplies. And I didn't see a craft-hobby section, but it is a big store, so I probably just missed it. I know I tire Jim out on these occasional outings, but I just love getting out to shop!!
August 18, 2006 - Friday
Happy Birthday Earl !!!!!!
I thought about calling you this morning around 9am eastern time, but that was too early. Then I was going to call you around 6pm but wasn't sure if you were home yet from work. So the next time I thought of it was 3am eastern. The good news is that I did think about you throughout the day! And I did remember to send you a card this year!!!!
Anyway, I sure hope your day was a great one!
August 17, 2006 - Thursday
I'm adding a "Source Information" button to each of my surname webpages. This will drop you to the bottom of the webpage where, eventually, I'll include all my sources for the data on each surname. There will also be a generic source page which can be accessed from the home page at the UrieFamily website which will have additional source materials available. But I'll explain that one more when I have it all set up.
It will take awhile to get all my sources typed in for each surname. I still don't have all the data typed in for each surname! So, it's a slow process. The data is extremely tedious to type in, having to recheck dates and stuff as I go, so if anyone spots some obvious errors, I hope, beg that you will contact me to make the corrections.
That's basically what I worked on today. Jim, on the other hand, had to replace the thermostat on our hot water heater. It went up yesterday and really, really overheated our water. Then only cold was available. So it's fixed!
Starting in September, I'm going to add something new to my daily journal. Wish I had done it back in January. It's a duh-what was I thinkin' moment. Or maybe NOT thinking moment. I have this really cool calendar for 2006 (yeah, I know the year is almost over). Anyway, the calendar is about weather and of course has the neatest photos. But I'm rambling. It also has Weather Trivia and facts about what happened on each date in weather history. So I thought I'll start including that in September. Maybe sooner.
Well, not much else going on, at least that I want to publicize here in my journal. So I'll call it a night.
August 16, 2006 - Wednesday
Benji won!!! I thought he was the best. Can I pick 'em or what? If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry, it was just a TV show.
I've started adding data to some surname pages. Tonight I started on Kennard, Mackall, Parks, Pullen. Medford will be started tomorrow hopefully. I'm working on a conflict with the birthdates of some of the people and it's one of those "gut" feelings that I get, that something doesn't mesh. So I'm researching further. Which is the fun part of genealogy anyway!!!
I have learned the neatest song to sing in church, if nobody sings it before me! I still haven't gotten the accompaniment for it, but I'm going to order it. It's an awesome song, so powerful! I hope I can get the accompaniment and sing it in the next couple weeks!
I said earlier this week that something had happened to me that I would write about, so here goes...
I struggle with my voice due to allergies and asthma. Some days are good, some bad. Hoarseness and no breath control. It seemed like the last few times I planned to sing, my plans were "shot down" due to my voice or breaking an ankle, being in a wheelchair. I had been praying about singing and getting more involved in singing, looking for a group to sing with or something. I really would like to sing, (I'd rather sing a harmony part than the lead) and mostly I sing southern gospel, country gospel, bluegrass gospel and now even a little contemporary gospel. But since I don't have a group, I sing by myself, cause I've just gotta sing. But the more I tried to plan a schedule of dates and places to sing, seemed like I was being stopped.
After I broke my ankle, I began to feel like it wasn't meant for me to sing. Maybe the Lord was trying to give me a message to stop. It was kinda breaking my heart, for I love to sing. But if that was what He was telling me to do, then I would stop singing publicly and just do it at home for my own enjoyment.
I prayed about it some more the last few weeks, not really asking for a sign, but for Him to just show me somehow what He wanted me to do. I got my sign! Two separate people came up to me in church this week and asked me to sing with them. Usually it has been the other way around and something always comes up on my end. I felt like this was my sign and so we are going to do it. I don't know how or when, but I know how to find out. Just pray about it. It's pretty amazing. God is good!
As soon as this cast is off, I'll be wired up to record again. I can't wait to get the different people over and work out some songs together that we can not only sing in church, but record also!
Now here's the other part. I've written 12 songs, well, the words only. Need to figure out tunes. When the time is right, God will give me the tunes. I know He gave me the words. I couldn't sleep one night about a year ago. So I got up and was making one of my numerous lists of things to do. The words just started coming and I was writing them down as fast as I could. All 12 songs were written in about an hour. That's the other story that I haven't told. Felt the time was right now. I haven't read the words in a year, but I'm thinking that the time is coming very soon to pull them out and sit down at the piano. I know the tunes are about to come.
August 15, 2006 - Tuesday
Worked on Jim's surnames today. I had the good luck of adding 3 generations to one of his surnames! The Ryland family! I haven't put the Ryland info on the webpages yet, but it's on my "to do" list!!
I'm digging through files, notes and lining up data to start updating that portion of my surname webpages, now that I have all the pages "technically" updated and more consistent. It's a bigger job than what I have worked on the last few weeks, but, well, again, I've got the time right now to do it, so...lemons to lemonade!
The other thing I need to be working on is the scanning of all these old genealogy magazines and newsletters and file documents. Some of the old maps I copied 25 years ago have completely faded. Fortunately, the one I had totally lost is now online, so I've downloaded it! I really was lucky to find it!
Seth called today, said they've been having very unusually humid weather the last few days. Humidity is almost 40%. I'll trade him ours! I don't think ours has been below 70% this summer. But New Mexico is having their "monsoon" season, Seth said it's raining hard, sidewalks are under water. They don't get alot of rain there, but it all comes on a couple days a year!
August 14, 2006 - Monday
Can't believe that August is half over! Guess cause I've been confined inside for the whole summer. It's going to be fall when I can at least get rid of the casts! Still can't go on my own yet, but I'll be happy to be "free" of the confining casts!!!
August 13, 2006 - Sunday
Didn't do much except work on genealogy today. Making progress on my research and on my webpage work. Watched a couple of movies to get out of the wheelchair for awhile. Otherwise, quiet day.
Had something happen this week, I'll write it later....
August 12, 2006 - Sabbath
It was a gorgeous day outside. In the low 80's with a breeze and for once, lower humidity! Now if it was only in the low 40's and low humidity, I'd be really happy! Soon. It's coming!
August 11, 2006 - Friday
Always a busy day, no matter what. Even though I'm not able to do anything, it's busy for everybody else!
I'm so pleased that I got all the surname page corrections caught up! I just feel like I have really accomplished something this week!
I did a quick drawing, actually only spent 10 minutes on it, again, just doodling. But I thought it wasn't too bad for a 10 minute doodle! I've included it on my artwork pages under Charcoals and pencil drawings. I was only using a pencil, nothing else. If I can't do painting now, well, I'll see what I can do with an art form that isn't as messy!
August 10, 2006 - Thursday
So, OK, I know that I'm sometimes abit slow. It dawned on me today (ding-ding) that I don't have to wait to paint, well, yes I do, but I could be drawing. There's no mess with that! So here I go again.
Had a doctor's appt today, just routine checkup that had gotten postponed from June. Then we went to Wal-Mart! I just love getting out!!! Especially to shop. Picked up a few items and a prescription then back to the house. I'm tired just from that but it doesn't take alot of energy to be on the computer!!!!
All the surname pages at my genealogy website have been updated. It's just the technical behind the scene stuff mostly, but you will notice that all the divider lines and flowers should now be there. I've still got lots more to work on, such as adding updated information that I now have on most of my surnames. But I'll start on that next week. I need a break! I'll go back to scanning for a few days! Plus I actually have a couple pages that need to be added, some new surnames and a page listing my direct lines and so on. There is no end to what can be done!
Well, believe it or not, I am really tired tonight, so I'll quit chatting for now.
August 9, 2006 - Wednesday
My genealogy surname pages are almost done, at least the technical corrections. Any surnames beginning with the letters M - Z are now good to go. I will finish up A - L in the next couple of days. I was actually all done when I noticed 3 more small errors that needed to be fixed, so that is why I still have A - L to correct. Check them out and if you notice any broken links or graphics that have a broken symbol on them, please email me the page name so I can fix it!
I've found an early record of Thomas Urie in Kent Co Md. He owned property in 1753. So that's the earliest record of him that I've located so far. Thing is, in my previous searches of ships' lists, I searched 1745-1750 records, but not beyond 1751. Looks like I might need to recheck 1751-1752 also!
So I'm looking through the Bob Ross catalog that I received. He really did alot of paintings. They actually have about 30 seasons of taped paintings and a book to go with each series. It's really neat. "If I were a rich man" or woman.... How cool that would be.
It's like anything in life. Practice, practice, practice. Yes, there should be some "raw" gift to start with. But I believe that God has given all of us many "raw" gifts that we never develop. And yes, there are those who are greatly gifted for a purpose. But you don't sing without practice. You don't write without practice. You don't quilt or cross-stitch or crochet or sculpt or dance or draw without tons and tons of practice.
So in light of this, I practice singing, almost daily. I practice many of my hobbies almost daily or at least occasionally. I've decided that I want to learn to paint well. So the key here is to practice.
It's more difficult right now, due to my condition. However, the day is fast approaching where I will be able to do more. I know we're not supposed to put off to the future what we can do today. I also know that many people do alot of things with limited capacity. However, like I've said before, Jim is having to do everything right now. He has told me over and over that he would be happy to take care of the "clean-up" part of my messy painting. But I'm already causing him enough extra work right now, so I just can't create more for him to do.
But in a few weeks, I'll be able to do it! I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to practice, practice, practice the painting and drawing and such. I have a couple of the Bob Ross books that have 13 paintings and how-to's in each. I figure that the best practice would be to do each painting to learn all the techniques of making clouds, mountains, trees and such. Won't that be COOL??
And I have other art books on things I'd love to be able to paint. I also save photos from online and out of magazines that I would love to try to paint! I love landscapes, don't get me wrong, and I want to continue painting those most definitely. However, I'd love to be able to paint wildlife, you know, animals, birds, butterflies, flowers and such. I'd love to do seascapes and the old ships at sea. And then, I'd love to be able to paint portraits. Or at least include people in my paintings. And, last of all I want to paint storms. I watch all the storm stuff on TV and I'd love to paint the tornado over the Kansas prairie or the storm clouds over the Kentucky mountains.
"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today" James Dean.
August 8, 2006 - Tuesday
Not doing much, reading, sleeping, watching TV and working on genealogy. I'm still working on the updates on each surname page. I completed up through the letter "Q" surnames today and have sucessfully uploaded them. Jim changed something on my computer so I'm able to upload better than before. So I'm good to go now.
I've also started working on the grandparents pages, which includes up through 3x great grandparents. So far I just have the pages set up and the names listed. I will add more info and photos (where possible). Some of the grandparents photos are already online at my Genealogy Photos page. So it may be somewhat of a duplicate but it allows me a place to include more personal info about them, so I'll try it out anyway for awhile.
I happened to look at the indoor-outdoor thermometer that we have on the wall. It read, 77.7° with 77% humidity. Thought that was cool. I know, what a life. Is it bad thing that little things entertain me?
Tomorrow I'll work on "R - Y" surnames. That's all I have left to do for the technical updates. I do have data updates to begin but that is much more complicated and time consuming. Ah, Looky here, I have nothin' but time right now! I did the "Morris" page today so that's one done. Out of 172 surname pages, plus about 30 other pages. And those are just the genealogy pages that need to be updated.
I never finished updating the hurricane season of 2005 online yet either and now we're into the 2006 season. I also haven't finished the Storm Chase pages that I was duplicating from Seth's pages. And then there's the hobby and crafts pages that I started and need to update. It's alot of work! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy doing it, I just flit from one area to another. It's hard to stick with one project until it's completed. Like all the scanning I've been working on.
Two weeks ago I scanned about 400+ pages. The rest of them are still piled, waiting to be scanned. I haven't done any in the last 2 weeks. It's on my "to do" list!!!
Life is good. It's nice to have so many interests and not enough time to do them. I'm also reading 2 books, Patriarchs and Prophets, and a Purpose Driven Life or whatever it's called; doing a Bible Home Study course and reading 3 chapters of the Bible each day (just started again). So I'm progressing!
I also watch the Bob Ross program each weekday. Many times the programs are repeats. Today it was one I'd never seen before!!! This one was a winter scene, what he called a "cold winter scene" requested by viewers, with only 3 colors used. Titanium White, Black and Prussian Blue. The whole painting done in 3 colors and it was AWEWOME!!!! He was a truly amazing artist!
August 6, 2006 - Sunday
We watched the funniest movie today on TV. It's called "Man of the House". No, it's not the one made several years ago with Chevy Chase and Farrah Fawcett. (That was a cute movie too). This one had Tommy Lee Jones in it as a Texas Ranger who is assigned to protect 5 cheerleaders who witnessed a murder. It was hilarious.
Other than that, I worked on my genealogy pages again. Still updating some set-up type things which you wouldn't normally notice. But if you look at some of my surnames in the last part of the alphabet, you will see that some of the things are "broken" on the pages. Little things like some of the lines and flower graphics are missing. So I'm systematically going through and correcting each page. I'm up through the letter "J" as of tonight.
It got into the low 90's today so it's still pretty rugged out there. Glad I'm inside these kinds of days! Fall is coming and with it, hopefully, some cooler weather. Watching the tropics, stuff is stirring but for the most part falling apart before it gets anywhere near the states. Maybe a quieter year, hurricane wise.
Dorothy had the most beautiful peaches on the kitchen table when we were visiting and she gave them to us. We have really enjoyed them! They are the best peaches we have eaten in years! Today I cut up the last few and we had those for dessert this evening! Thanks Dorothy!!! They were DELICIOUS!!!!
August 5, 2006 - Sabbath
Well, the weather is finally cooling down. It's going to be in the low 90's with 75-85% humidity, instead of the 100°+ with 85-95% humidity! WOW. A real cold front coming through...look out!!!
Seriously, we hit 102.2° on Wednesday. That's rugged. All around in the news we heard about people having heat-strokes and some even dying. This heat is RIDICULOUS!!!!! Bring on the winter, man!!!! We're hotter than Seth is, in New Mexico. Course he's been having his annual 'Monsoon"
So this evening I got all the surname pages updated that start with the letters B & J. Hopefully, I'll get them uploaded to the website tonight too. If not, well, then tomorrow.
August 4, 2006 - Friday
We got to visit, however briefly, with both sets of parents today!!!! It was great getting to see all of you!! I behaved myself and kept off my foot, for the most part and kept it elevated most of the time. Anyway, I enjoyed my day out but especially enjoyed visiting both sets of parents!!!
I am working on fixing all my surname pages. It's hard to explain, but basically I changed some layouts of things and it just takes time to update the pages, one by one, since I haven't mastered "style sheets" yet (which is a way to set up a so-called template to use--when a change needs to be made it's done in the style sheet which changes ALL pages at once automatically). But since I do it the old fashioned way and I have so many pages for each surname and hobby and such, that it's going to take awhile to get all the items "fixed" on each page. But I am working on it slowly.
Now I am tired so will call it a night.
August 3, 2006 - Thursday
Jimmy enjoyed his first day of orientation at the new job. Doing a 2nd day today and will actually begin working when school starts later this month. AWESOME!!!!!
I've been working hard on my genealogy, instead of my scanning this week. Over the last couple of weeks, I've added 8 surnames to my family lines and am working on updating some of the family surnames on my UrieFamily webpages. I've also updated my family ancestors page on this set of webpages, which just lists the names of grandparents, great-grandparents and such. The actual family data is on my UrieFamily website.
I got a packet of Bob Ross stuff in the mail yesterday. It has the newsletter and catalog of all the stuff they sell. Man! Would I love to have a million dollars or so to spend. I'd have a room added onto the house just for hobbies, like painting and scrapbooking! I'd also love to take one of the classes in the Bob Ross method of painting. I also received a brochure about the classes to get certified for teaching the Bob Ross paintings. They have 4 levels of Certification, one in Landscaping, one in Wildlife, one in Floral and one in Portraits. There are 3 in-depth classes under each category. You can become Certified in one category or more if you like. That would be SO-O-O-O COOL !!!!!!!!!!!!
Course, you can take them spread out through-out the years, finding someplace more local to take them, one at a time, which is also better financially, since the classes are expensive. OR you can take them in Florida in a couple weeks or so. That's the way to take them, Monday thru Friday for a whole week and hands-on help. Jim says he'll enjoy the beach while I "work"!!! Wouldn't THAT be cool!!! Ah, well, some day. It's on my "WANTS To Do" List.

Happy Anniversary to Lex & Eunice!!!!
August 1, 2006 - Tuesday
No internet for the last 24 hours. It's some sort of problem with the satellite company, so hopefully we'll be back online so you can read this!
We hit 100.8° today. Humidity is high, so the heat index was around 110°. It's supposed to hit 105° in Fredericksburg tomorrow with heat indexes approaching 115-120°. UN-BELIEVABLE!!!!
Have a new cast, this one is HOT PINK. I wanted a light color again instead of the darks, but they didn't have SKY BLUE or LAVENDER, so HOT PINK wins.
The doctor says maybe 6 more weeks of casts and then, if all goes well, I will start some physical therapy. Here's hoping!!!
How do you like my little pictures at the top of this page?? The girls with the pink casts and crutches??? I did those. Well, the people were already made, I added pink casts and crutches!
If you missed the end of my July journals you can go to the Archives page to catch up. I didn't do a very good job of daily journaling last month, but will try to do better in August!!!
And for Christmas lovers everywhere, there's only 144 days until Christmas!!!!
