December 30, 2006 - Sabbath
It has been a busy 10 days! But absolutely wonderful!!! I won't try to catch up this journal on my day to day log, just summarize it up today. Seth, JoAnna & Joey arrived with Jim from the airport around 12:30 am Thursday morning. We stayed up and talked until about 3:30 am. Then we all slept in for a few hours. Honestly can't remember what we did the rest of the day, but I know that at some point the kids all ran into town to pick up the rental car. They ate out together and did some Christmas shopping. Jim & I had a few errands to run in town also, which we did. Everyone was back home late in the evening and we talked until late once again.
Joey is a sweetheart! He is such a good boy! We watched a movie together and he played cars all day long. He wanted to open presents and we kept telling him just a couple more days. He'd go off to play cars some more each time.
I baked cookies all day on Friday and then we visited family on Christmas Eve. Had a get together at the Price household with over 21 people and 6 states represented! (VA, MD, DE, NC, NM, MT). Pretty cool. Then visited my brother's house briefly to see all their Christmas decorations! My sister-in-law, Penny, does the most BEAUTIFUL decorating for the holidays that you will ever see! This year they added some big yard displays too! It was FABULOUS!
Then we visited my parents, the Urie's and had another get together with about 14+ people and 3 states represented. (MD, VA, NM). It was a GREAT time!!! Penny and the family had decorated my parents house too, so it was FANTASTIC!!!
We headed back to our house to catch some sleep. We all actually slept in some on Christmas morning, with Joey anxious to open presents! We opened presents and then Jessica fixed us all a traditional pancake and eggs breakfast. It was DELICIOUS!!!
Later in the evening, Jimmy & Jessica left to visit her grandmother's house for another family gathering in Newport News, VA. Seth, JoAnna & Joey also left for the Virginia Beach area. Joey had never seen the ocean, so they spent the night and next day there seeing the winter sights. During the day, they met up with Jimmy & Jessica and spent the afternoon and evening together seeing some of the places that Jessica was familiar with in the area.
Meanwhile, back at our house, since I didn't have to cook my big turkey dinner on Christmas, Jim & I picked up Chinese at a brand new restuarant that opened about 10 miles away! It was SO cool. We picked up supper and crashed on the sofa to watch some of our new DVD's that we received for Christmas! We really enjoyed relaxing after all the busy preparations and holiday travels!!!!
Seth, JoAnna & Joey came back on Tuesday night and Jimmy and Jessica came back on Wednesday night. So we got to spend another evening together as a whole family before Seth and his gang left on Thursday.
Jim took them into town to return the rental car and then he took them to the airport Thursday. They were all checked in and through security by about 3 pm and so Jim headed back home. Seth's flight took off about 5:40 pm and we tracked them to Minneapolis where they changed planes for Albuquerque.
I stayed up until 2 am when Seth called to let me know they had safely landed in NM and were going to spend the night there with friends before heading home on Friday. It was snowing when they left NM last week and snowing when they arrived back.
I called Seth Friday afternoon and they were driving and almost back to their house, with 2 inches of snow on the ground and still falling. In NEW MEXICO!!!! Truth is, it has been colder there all winter (so far) than it has been here in VA. Yesterday, I ran to town and did a little grocery shopping and didn't even need a jacket, it was in the 60's.
So Seth, JoAnna & Joey are safely back in NM. Jimmy & Jessica are safely back here in VA. So all is right. We sure enjoyed having everyone here at the house for the holidays! Just wish that Seth, JoAnna & Joey lived closer. But I'm hoping that they will all get back for a visit real soon.

Merry Merry Christmas !!!!!!
December 20, 2006 - Wednesday
Today is finish up decorating and cleaning and wrapping packages and all the good stuff that needs to be done for the holidays. I haven't even done my Christmas cards yet! I also have tons of cookies to make, songs to practice and no end of cleaning and de-cluttering to do. It ain't all going to get done, I can tell you that right now!
Seth, JoAnna & Joey will arrive late tonight! We're so excited about them coming!!! Jim will pick them up at the airport around 10 pm. Which means they will be here around midnight or so. It will be a busy week, with all the visitors and places to go, but we've been looking forward to this all year!
December 19, 2006 - Tuesday
Did some grocery shopping and final Christmas shopping today. Went to town around 9 am and got home around 6 pm. Long day and I'm really tired. Got in a few quick practices on our songs for the Christmas program. We'll have fun with it. I love singing with others so much more than by myself!
Seth, JoAnna & Joey are flying in tomorrow night! But they are getting SNOW in Albuquerque tonight. Enough that all flights have been cancelled for the evening. Hopefully, it will all be over by tomorrow. But they left to make the drive tonight just in case the roads aren't cleared tomorrow.
December 18, 2006 - Monday
Jessica saw her doctor today and was told it is that nasty flu bug that has been going around. Takes quite some time to "kick" it. She's still not 100% but at least able to keep down tea and chicken broth now. She was really sick.
December 17, 2006 - Sunday
Happy Birthday Kevin !!!!!!
December 16, 2006 - Sabbath
We had a Christmas dinner and rehearsal for the Christmas program next week.
Jessica was very sick today, worried that we'd need to take her to the emergency room. Just continually vomiting and abdominal pain. She's resting better now tonight.
December 15, 2006 - Friday
I roasted a turkey and made a huge batch of turkey salad for the Christmas dinner at church this weekend. It came out really good.

After sundown this evening, Jimmy & Jessica put up our tree and decorated it! It sure looks beautiful. I'll post a photo at a later date! We still have other decorating to do and I have to finish cleaning up the living room.
I'm hoping to spend this week catching up on some of my housework. I've been trying to do some major cleaning, but the problem is that I can only do a little bit, then I'm tuckered out. So it's not getting done like I want it to be. However, I still have this week and next to finish. Jimmy & Jessica are helping me with the upstairs work (as well as the downstairs decorating!). So that is a tremendous help to me!!!!
We watched an old classic tonight after decorating the tree and eating pizza that Jimmy & Jessica went to pick-up! The movie was "The Bishop's Wife" with Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven. It was really a great Christmas movie. I just love all the Christmas movies this time of year!
December 8, 2006 - Friday
This has been a busy week. I had physical therapy one day. Also volunteered at the storehouse for helping give out food a couple days this week. Had other Christmas shopping and town errands to run, so what can I say? It's been BUSY!
There has been alot going on, but for the life of me, I can't remember what. It will come to me later as things simmer down and then I'll write more about it.
I did shift some furniture around in the living room, actually Jim did the moving (much to his dismay!). He hates for me to change anything around. But I feel like that's the only time things really get cleaned and it has to be shifted for the holidays....
Got my tree yesterday and it really felt like the season. We had 20° this morning and I think it's supposed to be colder tonight! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!! Well, not the wind, but the cold temps are marvelous. (As long as I can stay home!) Which I do, mostly....
December 4, 2006 - Monday
Happy Birthday Andy !!!!!!
Routine day, housework, laundry. Trying to cleanup and rearrange for Christmas. Big job.
December 3, 2006 - Sunday
Today there was an Appreciation Brunch for our pastor's wife, Kay. There was about 18 of us at a house in town and food? Oh my. They had platters of all kinds of breakfast foods. We also each brought cookies, sort of a cookie exchange, so that was cool, too.
Sounds like we may do a get-together periodically as part of our women's ministries. Cool.
When I got home, the man was here with his heavy equipment fixing our lane. Hallelujah! You can now drive up it without having to straddle the grand canyon!!!!
December 2, 2006 - Sabbath
Lots of running to do this week. And I'm tired already. It's just the time of year. But I LOVE it, love the shopping and the decorations and the whole nine yards!
December 1, 2006 - day of week
I did some grocery shopping for usf and a neighbor friend today. So I'm tired tonight. But I always love to shop. I ought to go into business and do shopping for other people. As long as I know exactly what they want, I don't mind going around to different stores to pick up stuff. It's fun! Maybe I just like to spend money and since I don't have any of my own, I enjoy spending other peoples money? Who knows...
If you didn't get to read the end of my November journaling, just click on the Archives above. I know that all of you are just dying to read what I have to say.... (That was sarcasm, if case you can't tell from the tone of my writing..)
Seth called me yesterday and said they had an inch of snow and it was 20° in New Mexico. This is the cold front that is sweeping across the country the last few days. I think that parts of Missouri, Iowa and such received a foot or more of snow.
We've been on the warm side, in the upper 70's the last few days and very humid. Course I can't stand any humidity so 72% humidity is just almost intolerable to me. I haven't been able to sleep good at all. But tonight it is supposed to storm and drop into the 30's. We shall see. It's 11 pm and still 65° here right now. The front was supposed to be over the Chesapeake Bay by 8 pm. Not so, at least here. I think the front is doing the routine of bending to the east at the north end and not making it through the mid-Atlantic as fast as they thought it would. The Appalachians always stall fronts like this out. So it may get down to the 30's in the upper counties of Maryland tonight, but I don't hold alot of faith in the front making it through us tonight. What is with this weather anyway?
The irony of it is that I really don't like super cold weather either. But at least if it's cold you can put more clothes on. But when it's hot and humid, well, there's only so much you can take off....
Today is the first day of December, folks, so guess what????????? There's only 24 shopping days left until Christmas!!!!! Man, it has really come fast, hasn't it?????
