March 31, 2007 - Sabbath

Ohio Law #28 - Oxford:   One may not spit on the sidewalks on the square.

Ohio Law #29 - Oxford:   Motor vehicles on the square are prohibited.

Ohio Law #30 - Oxford:   Horn honking is not permitted as it might scare horses.

I've been having some difficulty in ripping the cassettes, not the music ones but the old audiobooks. The sound is often either muffled sounding or distorted. I just don't understand enough about such stuff to know how to set things. I thought cutting the volume would solve distortion but it was not so. So Jim helped me so and I wrote down what he said so that I can peat and repeat it again and again on each cassette. There are several settings having to do with the sampling rate and dB's that I haven't got a clue about. Anyway, I should be good, now that I have some numbers that I can use as guidelines! Hopefully. Well, he's in the other room if I mess up....

It started out as a bright sunny morning but is now totally overcast. The weather predictions are for 30% chance of rain this afternoon or early evening. We shall see. March could still go out like a lion if it tried hard enough. I know it has for some folks unfortunately.

March 30, 2007 - Friday

Ohio Law #25 - McDonald:   Your duck may not be paraded down Ohio Avenue.

Ohio Law #26 - North Canton:   It is against the law to roller skate without notifying the police.

Ohio Law #27 - Oxford:   It is illegal to drive around the town square more than 100 times in a single session.

Another busy day, but I feel like I got alot accomplished for a change. Laundry, folded and put away, vacuuming upstairs and downstairs, meals, dishes, ripped several cassettes and filed 4 containers of genealogy papers that needed to be filed! That was the biggy.

Otherwise a routine Friday at the Price household. Everybody working and going to school and getting ready for the weekend and a chance to relax! What can I say?? Work hard now so I can put my feet up, goof off and be a real couch potato for a couple of days!

March 29, 2007 - Thursday

Ohio Law #22 - Ironton:   Cross-dressing is against the law.

Ohio Law #23 - Lima:   Any map that does not have Lima clearly stated on the map cannot be sold.

Ohio Law #24 - Lowell:   It is unlawful to run a horse over five miles per hour.

I got my hair cut again today, really short and this time had the gray washed away! It's just me, have to color it, have to color it....

Anyway, it's short for the summer and will certainly be alot cooler and easier to take care of for a few months!

I finished reading Psalms last night. I'm about to start Proverbs which I think may prove to be one of the most interesting books of the Bible. I love Daniel and Revelation because of all the prophecy. It fascinates me, intrigues me and I think it's important that we understand it. But Proverbs, well, the wisdom of Solomon. So many of our modern day sayings are actually from the book of Proverbs! Anyway, I know I'm going to enjoy it thoroughly!

We're almost to the end of this month. For the area we live in, March came in like a lamb, so I expect it to exit as a lion. We shall see. It is interesting that all the mid-part of the country has been plagued with all these severe storms the last couple of days. I believe the count is somewhere around 65 tornadoes. I also find it interesting that in years past, the spring "outbreak" of severe weather usually takes place in April not March.

These storms are slowly coming across the country and granted, they lose some of their severity as they cross the Appalachians, we could still see some disturbances on the 31st. Time will tell.

March 28, 2007 - Wednesday

Ohio Law #19 - Cleveland:   It's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license.

Ohio Law #20 - Fairview Park:   Items left on a tree lawn become city property.

Ohio Law #21 - Fairview Park:   It's against the law to honk your horn "excessively".

Have you ever noticed how when I'm trying to do housework, I don't have much to say? Or sometimes I wax on eloquently trying to not think about housework? There is a reason for that. I don't like housework. Unfortunately, it has to be done.

Today was ironing and it isn't my favorite chore, but it's done now for a couple weeks! What can I say? Nobody loves housework, but you have to do it no matter what. My spring cleaning is coming along slowly, very slowly. I figure it will be fall before the spring cleaning is done! As usual.

Was abit cooler today, but humidity is still around though not unbearable. I was ironing and the front must've passed over us because suddenly I was getting a gentle north breeze in the windows and boy, did it feel nice! Weathermen say cooler weather the rest of this week. Yea, cooler weather!

March 27, 2007 - Tuesday

Ohio Law #16 - Canton:   If one loses their pet tiger, they must notify the authorities within one hour.

Ohio Law #17 - Canton:   It is a misdemeanor to play any game in a public park without the Superintendent's permission.

Ohio Law #18 - Cleveland:   Women are forbidden from wearing patent leather shoes, lest men see reflections of their underwear.

Warm today, supposed to get some storms. We shall see.

No storms just stinkin' hot. We hit 93° today and that's way too hot for me, even with the humidity not so high. I'm just not a hot weather fan. Ever. At all. Well, if I could be at the beach I suppose I could tolerate the 70-80's. But even there, not 90's.

March 26, 2007 - Monday

Ohio Law #13 - Bay Village:   It is illegal to walk a cow down Lake Road.

Ohio Law #14 - Bexley:   Ordinance number 223, of 09/09/19 prohibits the installation and usage of slot machines in outhouses.

Ohio Law #15 - Canton:   Electric fences are banned.

Laundry, ironing, housework, cooking, dishes, you know the routine. Moved a small cabinet back to it's correct place. It had been moved in December to make room for the Christmas tree, so now it's finally back where it belongs. Put my knic-knacs back out that had also been put away to make room for holiday decorations. Ripped some more cassettes at the same time I was working on these projects. So all in all, a busy but productive day. Still have tons of routine spring cleaning to do, but at least it's started.

March 25, 2007 - Sunday

Ohio Law #10 - Akron:   It is illegal to display colored chickens for sale.

Ohio Law #11 - Akron:   Skateboarding in the city limits after dark is prohibited.

Ohio Law #12 - Akron:   Posting signs at swimming pools is illegal.

Just working on some routine things around the house. Spent time working in "my" room today, sorting more paperwork and ripping some old audiobook cassettes that I have from 20 years ago. The cassettes are not in the best shape since I had listened to them alot. So I figured in order to preserve them, best to rip them to the computer and save them as MP3 files and put them on CD's. So that's what I'm working on. I also have a box of old music cassettes that I will do the same. I already ripped some of my old "practice" cassettes from when I first was singing with the JKL trio and then by myself, approximately 20 years ago. WOW. Has it really been that long ago????

I just know that if I think about it long enough, I could come up with something that I could make and sell on eBay. Yes, the dollhouse furniture is a good idea. Maybe I could sell some paintings and drawings, or perhaps something quilted or cross-stitched. I also crochet and do several other different things like plastic canvas and macrame'. Actually made some really nice plant hangers with macrame' many years ago. How about music? Could I do some midi file type CD's of church music accompaniments or something like that to sell? I just need to come up with something, somehow. I've even thought about woodburning some "art", since I have an unlimited source of wood available to me, and selling those. Hm-m-m-m. I suppose my biggest problem is time. I have about 75 potholders cut out and ready to quilt. Maybe I should work on those after I finish the dollhouse furniture.....

I'll think of something, I'm sure!!

March 24, 2007 - Sabbath

Ohio Law #7:   It is illegal for more than five women to live in a house.

Ohio Law #8:   It is illegal to mistreat anything of great importance.

Ohio Law #9:   No one may be arrested on Sunday or on the Fourth of July.

Well, I figured out what I did wrong. I didn't lose a day, I just doubled a day. I celebrated (apparently) two March 10th's. TeeHeeHee. Oh, well, I'm not going to go back and try to sort it out. Just know that I know what I did and what I'm doin' and where I'm goin' and all that good stuff. You didn't miss any of the state laws, you just got 6 of 'em on March 10th instead of 3.

Had a very enjoyable afternoon at the pastor & his wife's potluck dinner today. Quite a few folks there and we all talked about everything. Of course, we got around to the Investigative Judgement and several other issues we've been talking about and reading about in some books as well as the Bible. I'll get my opinions written up soon on my Religious Pages, but it's interesting to hear and discuss different opinions and ideas on these subjects as well as have things proven in the Bible. What do I believe? Well, you'll just have to wait and read it on the Fundamental Beliefs Pages of my Religious webpage! Hint: Investigative Judgement is #24.

Only 7 days left in the month of March. Where did this month go? I have all these lists of things to be accomplished each month. But honestly, I didn't get much accomplished this month. I am busy, it's true. But it's a different busy than years ago. All part of getting older I suppose. I just know that the days fly by so much faster now than they used to. And I don't even sleep as much as I used to, so you would think that I would have EXTRA time on my hands! Not so.

March 23, 2007 - Friday

Ohio Law #4:   It's illegal to get a fish drunk.

Ohio Law #5:   The Ohio driver's education manual states that you must honk the horn whenever you pass another car.

Ohio Law #6:   Participating or conducting a duel is prohibited.

You just gotta love Ohio. At least their laws. Cool.

I don't know what I did, but somehow I lost a day this month. My law numbers are a day off. Oh, sure, I've matched the laws to the correct states and such. But I had numbered them on my printout for the whole year and somehow I lost a day in March. Oh well, there may very well be two days with the same date somewhere. Who knows? I'll figure it out. Or not. You'll just have to deal with it.

The good news is that we got into the Ohio laws a day earlier than I planned.

Did some shopping today and a few errands here and there. Started earlier for a change so was back home early, for a good change.

I have just got to get back to painting again. Also want to list some things on eBay. Will probably work on that next week. We shall see. Good intentions, poor use of time these days!

I shouldn't say that either since I'm doing some volunteer work each week, so that's not poor use of time at all. I love doing it in fact. It's just the rest of my time that I mess up!!!

Where has this month gone to? By the way, we got up to 91° today. Hot, humid. There was a slight breeze during the day and it did cloud up as if it was going to rain, but it didn't. However, humidity has moved in this evening and we're down in the mid 60's now. This is STILL MARCH. What is GOING ON????

March 22, 2007 - Thursday

Ohio Law #1:   No person shall expectorate upon a person, facility or vehicle or on any public transportation system.

Ohio Law #2:   If you ignore the orator on Decoration Day to such an extent as to publicly play croquet or pitch horseshoes within one mile of the speaker's stand, you can be fined $25.

Ohio Law #3:   It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.

OK, New State, yes? I really have to take issue with the fishing for whales on Sunday. In Ohio. Fishing for whales. Are there whales in the Great Lakes???? Perhaps they have swam down some river???

Busy day, but a normal one in the Price household. Just routine stuff, you know? Probably sounds boring to most, but, hey, it's my life, right? I do what I gotta do and just keep on keepin' on. OK, enough of the sayin's right?

Definitely loopy tonight. Got to get some sleep.

March 21, 2007 - Wednesday

Oregon Law #31 - Stanfield:   No more than two people may share a single drink.

Oregon Law #32 - Yamhill:   It is illegal to predict the future.

Oregon Law #33 - Yamhill:   No one may allow their cellar door to remain open.

Busy day, laundry and housework. Also worked on ripping audiobook cassettes. It's a slow process and can only do a couple cassettes a day, but I'm working on them. I like to listen to them when I ride in the car. Mostly I listen to and sing songs while driving. But sometimes, I just like to listen to a book instead. So that's what I'm ripping right now.

Also researched some of EG White's books today on several issues including the 1844 Investigative Judgement, as well as some health issues and music issues. The most interesting one was the Last Day Events book, which really goes into Daniel and the Revelation, and the Three Angels Messages and of course the last day events. Very interesting! I'm learning things that I should've already known!

I will discuss this later, but for tonight I'm beat. Calling it a night for now....

March 20, 2007 - Tuesday

Oregon Law #28 - Springfield:   It is illegal to own a reptile within the city limits, unless you are a school or city, as a pet.

Oregon Law #29 - Stanfield:   It is against the law for animals to have sex in the city limits.

Oregon Law #30 - Stanfield:   Cloth towel dispensers are banned from restrooms.

I'm not even going to consider discussing the above laws. How do you stop animals from.... Nevermind....

Another busy day, housework etc. I fixed my famous salmon for supper tonight. It's the easiest recipe. You buy salmon filets and cut them into 1" strips. I mix Italian dressing, honey, thyme, salt & pepper into a bowl and put the strips of salmon in it. Let it marinate for several hours. (Overnight is really the best if you can). Then set your oven to 450° and put them on a broiler tray for 20-25 minutes. I fry potatoes and have coleslaw on the side (our famous fishing combination from our fishing days). Yummy, yummy, yummy good! One of my favorite meals.

Not only that, but it's good for you, filling and tough to overeat, since it is so filling. Good Omega Oils or antioxydents or whatever in the fish too.

I've been wracking my poor brain trying to come up with something that I can make and sell. I searched eBay and may have come up with a couple ideas. So I'm going to make a couple things and put them on eBay and see how I do. I'll let you know when stuff is listed.

I've also been working on my April journal getting the page setup and ready to go. This month is flying by and I was afraid it would get away from me!! Would you believe that I'm tired of the weird laws already? I have enough to last the whole year, but you know what? I'm not going to continue them in April. I will eventually set up pages for each of the states and include, amongst many other items, the weird laws for each state. I'll post when I have those pages up and running. It will take awhile. But in the meantime, I will discontinue the laws at the end of this month.

March 19, 2007 - Monday

Happy Anniversary Earl & Gail!!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary Ed & Linda!!!!!!!

Oregon Law #25 - Portland:   Riders of sleds may not attach themselves to passing cars.

Oregon Law #26 - Portland:   Persons may not pass through a "traffic congestion thoroughfare" more than twice per night.

Oregon Law #27 - Salem:   Women may not wrestle in Salem.

Routine day at the Price household. Housework, laundry and cooking and cleaning, 'nuff said. Tired tonight!

To two of my brothers whose anniversaries are today, I hope both of you, all four of you, had great anniversaries!!! You deserve it!

March 18, 2007 - Sunday

Oregon Law #22 - Portland:   You cannot wear roller skates in restrooms.

Oregon Law #23 - Portland:   Minors may not enter a room where a "social game" is being played.

Oregon Law #24 - Portland:   Trucks may not be parked on the street.

Can you believe that this month is half over? Jim & I went to town today, just to do a little shopping. It's been awhile since we could spend a day around town. We had a good time, spent too much money and when we came home, I slept for 2 hours on the sofa. "The old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be..."

I've been trying to sort all my emails and delete the ones not needed and save, archive stuff I want to keep. Tedious at best, but at least I have some of it done. Enough to make more room in my folders now!

Not much else going on at the Price household today. We have a busy week ahead of us. I'm feeling so much better off the cholesterol medicine! The doctor has sent me some samples of a different kind, but I'm going to wait a week and see if my legs continue to be better. Today was not a good test, since one leg was hurting pretty bad after all the walking at the stores. But this is the first day in a week that my legs or one leg has bothered me. I used the heating pad on it and it feels better now.

So all is well that ends well for this weekend. We'll see what the rest of the week brings. Maybe, perchance, I'll get some dreaded housework done for a change. Or, be still my heart, perhaps I'll even get started on my spring cleaning! Or is it last fall's cleaning???? I've forgotten now. Think I'll just start over with a clean slate and call it Spring Cleaning 2007!!!!!

No smart remarks needed.

March 17, 2007 - Sabbath

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!!!!

Oregon Law #19 - Portland:   Shoelaces must be tied while walking down the street.

Oregon Law #20 - Portland:   It's against the law for a wedding ceremony to be performed at a skating rink.

Oregon Law #21 - Portland:   People may not whistle underwater.

I've added the rest of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs onto my Religious Beliefs webpages. Comments will be added later, but for now the belief is there along with the complete Bible reference texts. Please email me with your beliefs, comments, texts, quotes from other sources. I will absolutely post them with your first name and state only, unless you request more to be posted. I do reserve the right to censor and/or edit the responses as necessary. However, if it is a reasonable (and I mean no bad language etc) type comment, I will post them in their entirety. Think about it and email me. This could be your chance to let your light shine, so to speak!

Normal Saturday for us and an enjoyable day. No new news or any thing like that. Just my thoughts running rampant. I've been reading my Bible still each night and I'm almost through Job now. I'm also reading several other books simultaneously so sometimes it seems as though my progress is slow, but in reality, I'm reading quite abit!

Fredericksburg had a dusting of snow last night at the end of all the rain. We may have had a few flakes mixed in with the rain here in KG County, but nothing on the ground. Supposed to get some tonight too, but we shall see. I have three sources of online temperatures as well as several thermometers outside. My thermometers are registering from 35° to 28° currently, depending on which side of the house you're looking. The online readings are 31° to 28°. Basically, what I'm saying is, the temps are low enough for snow, but will we get any????

Well, I checked the radar and it looks we won't get any snow tonight. There is some lake effect snow over in western Maryland and West Virginia, moving southeast and a little patch of snow that passed through southern New Jersey. But most of the snow is in the New England area, you know, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine areas. Not anywhere near us in the Southern part of the Mid-Atlantic. That's my final answer.

Hey, I'm not a weatherman er a weathergal. Just a weather-watcher.

March 16, 2007 - Friday

Oregon Law #16 - Marion:   You cannot eat a doughnut and walk backwards on a city street.

Oregon Law #17 - Marion:   Ministers are forbidden from eating garlic or onions before delivering a sermon.

Oregon Law #18 - Myrtle Creek:   One may not box with a kangaroo.

What bizarre laws you have in Oregon! Who would want to box with a kangaroo anyway?

I've got some more of the Fundamental Beliefs uploaded through #13. Still haven't started including comments yet. Those will come after all 28 beliefs are posted.

Mr. Foxy was sitting in the driveway about 10 feet from the back door tonight waiting for me to toss him some food. I gave him some leftover roast and bread. He grabs it and then runs about 10 feet further away. He's really cute. He's den must be real close to the house since I can throw something outside and it's gone in about 2 minutes. As soon as it gets near dusk, if you go outside, he will be close by waiting to see if we're going to toss out some scraps.

We actually hit 88° yesterday not 86° and in 4 hours we dropped over 40 degrees. It is currently 31° and all the rain we had today is getting a glaze of ice on it. The steps are slippery. But the rain is gone, I do believe for the night, so there won't be more accumulation at least.

Calling for some snow tomorrow night too. It's March, what can I say? You would expect this up in Westminster, where we used to live. We had snow in late April sometimes there. But March, in Virginia???? Well, you just never know.

March 15, 2007 - Thursday

Oregon Law #13 - Eugene:   It is legal to conduct a horse race or a symphony concert.

Oregon Law #14 - Hood River:   Juggling is strictly prohibited without a license.

Oregon Law #15 - Klamath River:   It's illegal to walk down a sidewalk and knock a snakes head off with your cane.

Routine day, housework, laundry, ran to the store to pick up a couple items. Just busy, busy, busy!!!!

Got up to 86° already this afternoon. This is ridiculous. I want cooler weather!!!!!

Still working on the Religious Beliefs pages. I now have the individual beliefs posted up through Belief #6. More will be coming and there will eventually be comments added! Stay tuned!!!!

March 14, 2007 - Wednesday

Oregon Law #10:   Canned corn is not to be used as bait for fishing.

Oregon Law #11 - Beaverton:   You must buy a $10 permit to be allowed to install a burglar alarm.

Oregon Law #12 - Eugene:   It is illegal to show movies or attend a car race on Sundays.

We hit the balmy temperature of 86° today. I don't like that. Supposed to get some storms tomorrow afternoon as a mild cold front passes through, causing our temperatures to drop down into the 50's, which is more seasonable for March. I look forward to the cooler weather. I mean, afterall, if we're gonna have 80's then I want my AC turned on! And I refuse to turn it on in MARCH!!!!

Worked on laundry and housework, sorted some old mail and worked on my webpages today. I didn't sleep good last night, couldn't breathe right due to my lingering cold. Finally fell to sleep around 3 am for an hour, then was awake until 5:30 am. After that I fell back to sleep and slept until 9:30 am!!!! Guess I finally got tired enough!

The heat also does that to me. Can't sleep cause it's too humid and hot inside the house, even with the windows open. We just don't get much breeze on ground level here in the woods! So, if it cools off I'll sleep better and of course, once the AC comes on, it won't be a problem. It's probably not even the cold, but allergies kicking in due to the trees starting to bloom. I always have trouble in the spring and fall. Course, that is also when we have the windows open.....

It doesn't seem to bother me to have the windows open in the dead of winter....

The other good news is my legs didn't ache at all today, already, by not taking the cholesterol meds last night! I almost hate to start the new ones! I haven't been "ache-free" for quite some time!!!

Oh, yes. The webpages. Well, I've revised my Religious Beliefs page to show the 28 beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Then I'll have a link to each belief on it's own page with all the reference texts already typed out for you folks to read and think about. I've included an area at the bottom of each page for comments and discussion, so I hope I will hear from many of you readers as to your thoughts on these beliefs. I'll also be adding some comments of my own. So far I have the basic page done and the first 6 beliefs online. More will be coming each week until they are all there.

Future plans will be to add more various beliefs, some different viewpoints etc, but I'm getting ahead of myself. For now, please email me comments and thoughts that you would like to share on my website about each belief. Unless you tell me differently, I'll list your first name, and state under your comments. If you want me to include more than that please let me know.

You can go directly to the Religious Beliefs pages by clicking HERE.

March 13, 2007 - Tuesday

Oregon Law #7:   Ice cream may not be eaten on Sundays.

Oregon Law #8:   It is illegal to buy or sell marijuana, but it is legal to smoke it on your own property.

Oregon Law #9:   One may not bathe without wearing "suitable clothing".

I'm not even going to try and make comments on these laws.... And that, folks, is totally sarcasm! You can't eat ice cream on Sundays? You can't buy or sell marijuana but you can smoke it on your own property? When they say "bathe" do they mean like in a bath? Or are they referring to swimming? If it's swimming, yeah, I can understand that. And we just won't go any further than that with the remarks tonight!

Eh, that wasn't so bad now, was it?

Busy day, picked up prescriptions, did a little running around town so I won't have to do it later this week. Cooked supper and did the dishes, what else can I say? My legs were hurting from shopping so used the heating pad on them tonight. That really helps alot! Doc's office called and told me to stop my cholesterol meds and he is starting me on a different kind. So that may ease some of the aches and pains also! So it's all good.

It was warm today, felt like upper 70's. Think it will be like this until Friday then temps will become more seasonable, in the 50's during the day. There was a slight breeze today and when it clouded over the breeze felt a little cool, but regardless, I didn't even need a jacket today so spring has sprung in the Commonwealth. My jonquils are blooming and the hyacinths are starting to get blooms on them also. Next fall, hopefully, I'm going to get more plants and flowers planted. I haven't really done that since we lived here, only some hyacinths, grape hyacinths, tulips and jonquils. Jim & Jimmy had planted most of the jonquils when I was working full time to surprise me. Then a couple years ago, my sister-in-law, Eunice, gave me some lilies to plant and Jim planted them for me also. They are so pretty when they come up. So next year, I'm going to finally get with the program and "pretty" up my yard! I do have one Blaze rose plant on the end of the house that does well also, and a couple of azaleas in front of the house. We also have some of the "wild" white dogwoods along the woods and a flowering pear tree that is beautiful in the spring. So it's not completely bare.

My tulips have gotten crowded along the walkway and I intend to dig them up this fall and replant them. I also want to plant some more low shrubberies around the edges of the cleared yard as the birds love the shrubbery in the winter. Every year when the seed, bulb, vegetable and flower catalogs arrive, I start thinking about what I want to do. This year, I'm going to do it, if I'm able!

Well, at least start working on it. You don't plant a flower garden or yard overnight. It takes years of work to get it where you want it. Our garden, fruit orchard, flowers and shrubbery in Westminster didn't happen overnight either. It took 11 years of work and it was still a work in progress when we had to move to Virginia. Now, this year, I really WANT to start working on the yard again. The garden will probably wait until Jim retires, I just don't have the stamina to do what I used to do, all that canning. (Though I loved doing it at the time!) But I miss having fresh tomatoes from the garden and the peppers we used to grow, cucumbers, pumpkins, squash and zucchini's and all the other stuff we had. You'd have to visit my garden webpages to see some of the things we grew back then! It was AWESOME!!!

March 12, 2007 - Monday

Oregon Law #4:   A door on a car may not be left open longer than is necessary.

Oregon Law #5:   Dishes must drip dry.

Oregon Law #6:   The "Peer Review Statute" prohibits you from finding out details of any written or oral discussion about your medical treatment.

Well, remind me to never live in Oregon! You can't find out about the written discussion of your OWN medical treatment? Whose ideal was that? And so you cannot buy dish-towels or dishwashers in Oregon? Dishes must "drip dry"???? Oh, excuse me, it takes me a little longer to exit my vehicle than most people, will I get a ticket????? So if you're an Oregon lover, I'm just being sarcastic, so deal with it.

I've never been to Oregon or even the West Coast, but would love to travel all around the lower 48 someday. I have been in 29 states so far. I'd love to increase that to 48 or 49 if I include Alaska. No real interest in Hawaii, no offense Hawaiians, I just don't look forward to flying or taking a large ship. Maybe when they build the highway out there.....

But traveling around the US would be awesome! I would like to take a couple months (and about a million dollars-since I'm going to dream here) and travel across the US, maybe catching the northern states on the way West and the southern states on the return trip. I'd like to not just drive through each state but stop, spend a day or two sightseeing the historic and scenic places. So if I'm going to dream, maybe I need 6 months and a couple million..... Well, I can dream can't I????

Jimmy's leg is really doing better, but the doctor is changing his antibiotic to a different one for another 10 days. He also had some additional bloodwork done which is just making sure there wasn't an underlying reason for the infection to abscess so quickly. Otherwise, all is well.

It was in the low 60's today, very pleasant day. If it didn't get any hotter than this, I would love it. But it will get hotter and more humid.

March 11, 2007 - Sunday

Oregon Law #1:   One may not test their physical endurance while driving a car on a highway.

Oregon Law #2:   Babies may not be carried on the running boards of a car.

Oregon Law #3:   Drivers may not pump their own gas.

New State is Oregon as promised. Routine day, did some laundry and some work in the kitchen. As always, spent some time working on my webpages. No, I haven't uploaded the ones I'm working on yet. I have the Religion Page and the first two basic fundamental beliefs completed. Well, except for additional comments which I will add at a later date and as comments are emailed to me.

Warm today, got up to around 71°. Jimmy & Jessica had a good weekend visiting with her father who is visiting from Texas. They spent today in DC and got to visit the Air & Space Museum as well as some other places. Jimmy will post photos later this week.

Well, I'm tired and have a busy week ahead of me, so I'll cut it short tonight!

March 10, 2007 - Sabbath - Continued??

New Jersey Law #33 - Sea Isle City:   There will be no boiling of bones on the property.

New Jersey Law #34 - Trenton:   You may not throw a bad pickle into the street.

New Jersey Law #35 - Trenton:   Pickles are not to be consumed on Sundays.

What is with the pickle laws? Did someone in a legaslative office hate pickles? Why not bananas? I don't really like bananas, so why not ban those from being thrown into the street? Why not make it illegal to consume bananas on Thursdays?

And what about the boiling of bones? What property? Mine? Yours? The City proper? What about soup bones? OK, OK, I'll let it go for now.

It's just all these questions come to mind when I read these laws. My brain just tries to wrap around the ideas presented and tries to understand the logic behind the laws. Guess What? I have come to the conclusion that in many circumstances, there just isn't any logic. But the Bible clearly states that "none of the wicked will understand but the wise shall understand" (Daniel 12:10). So it sounds like I need to understand things even when others think it is unimportant. Think maybe I drifted to another area???? Yes, I'm still struggling with the whole 1844 Investigative Judgement and other prophecies in Daniel and Revelation. But I'm going to put these issues on my revised Religion webpages that I'm working on. No, I haven't uploaded them yet and it may be awhile, but I promise to let you know when I start presenting the beliefs and things!

But on another front, I finished Ezra and began Nehemiah last night. I'm moving right along in my Bible readings as well as several other books I am reading on the side!

March 10, 2007 - Sabbath

New Jersey Law #30 - Mount Laurel:   It is illegal to get drunk and annoy others in your house.

New Jersey Law #31 - Newark:   It is illegal to sell ice cream after 6 pm, unless the customer has a note from his doctor.

New Jersey Law #32 - Raritan:   Profanity is prohibited.

I just have to know, inquiring minds want to know, why no ice cream after 6 pm????? The other laws sound reasonable. And perhaps the no ice cream after 6 pm is reasonable too. After all, what doctor in his right mind would give a patient a note saying it is ok for him or her to buy ice cream after 6 pm? 'Nuff said....

Really a beautiful day, little warm since we hit 76° but very pleasant if you were in the shade. I just don't care for all the bees flying around and the spiders starting to spin their webs. And let's not talk about the snakes. Not yet, please!

I have to admit that we don't have a big snake issue here, even though we live back in the woods. Don't ask me why, though I think I know. Since we are up on top of a hill, there is no low spots or marshy spots near the house. We do have a very small creek down the lane and coincidentally, that is where we see most of the few snakes that are spotted. Occasionally, maybe one may appear near the shed. That is one of the dampest areas we have in the clearing area around the house. Then one year we had a black racer that persistently came into the backyard every afternoon. He would see the activity around the birdfeeders and figured lunch was served. Jim would come home just about the time the snake would show up and chase him off each day, but the next day he would be back. Finally, one day Jim chased him clear back into the woods. I never saw him again. The snake, not Jim.!!!

So they're more of a rarety around the house. Oh, don't get me wrong, I know they're around, I just don't go out as much in the spring and summer, so therefore I don't run into them. We have an abundance of copperheads locally. Every summer someone's neighbor kid is bitten by one. We keep the emergency kit, which everyone locally has for just such an event. Thankfully, we haven't had to use it yet. Just because I said it now, Murphy's Law, please don't strike!

Well, tomorrow will end the New Jersey laws that I wish to share. Starting on Monday I will post some of Oregon's weird laws. Is this fun or what??? OK, don't get smart....

March 9, 2007 - Friday

New Jersey Law #27 - Haddon:   No one may annoy someone of the opposite sex.

New Jersey Law #28 - Manville:   It is illegal to offer whiskey or cigarettes to animals at the local zoo.

New Jersey Law #29 - Mount Laurel:   Climbing trees is prohibited in all city parks.

Jimmy's leg is 100% better. It's not totally healed yet, but it is getting there! The antibiotic is working!!!!!!

It turned out to be a warm day today. I think the wind was a bit chilly but the sun was warm enough that if you were where the wind couldn't get to you, it was very pleasant! It's now down into the 30's and I don't suspect it will get much colder tonight anyway. Supposed to be warm all weekend.

Jimmy & Jessica are visiting with her father this weekend which is nice. He is visiting from Texas and they are having a great time catching up!

March 8, 2007 - Thursday

New Jersey Law #24 - Elizabeth:   It is forbidden for a woman, on a Sunday, to walk down Broad Street without wearing a petticoat.

New Jersey Law #25 - Haddon:   It is illegal to use the Crystal Lake Pool without first obtaining a bathing tag from the Township Clerk.

New Jersey Law #26 - Haddon:   Cross-dressing is illegal.

Happy Birthday Joyce!!!!!!!

Busy day. I didn't sleep but 3½ hours last night. I think my brain was just on superdrive. I tend to be somewhat of a worry-wart. You know, a person who just looks for things to worry about. I remember my Dad & one of my uncles saying that my grandmother used to almost wring her hands, even when things were going well, almost as if she were saying, "Oh, I wish I had something to worry about..." Well, I'm not quite that bad, but I do worry about things, like all my family, my boys, things that haven't happened yet, things that may never happen, scenarios that my mind conjures up that couldn't possibly happen and so forth. I don't do that real often, where I stay awake at night. I'm much better at just leaving it all in God's hands and getting a good night's sleep. But for some reason last night, I held onto it myself. So I'm tired today, again, my own fault.

A lot of times it's not even really worry that keeps me awake. Just seems like my mind is stuck in 5th gear and no matter what I do, I can't seem to "downshift" to a lower gear, let alone put it in neutral.... Well, I don't think I'll have that problem tonight. I'm tired enough that I can honestly say that I'll fall to sleep within 30 mins of my head hitting the pillow. What? 30 minutes is awesome for me!!!

I was in town today for awhile, picked up some more sterile gauze for Jimmy's abscessed wound on his leg. Which, by the way, (BTW), is alot better today. It's still got a large area that is abscessed and a pretty large hole in his leg. But it is alot better, draining and all that good stuff. Still no more fever too. So he is doing alot better!

Dad said that they had 7° in Maryland this morning. At 5 am we had 23° and it probably dropped a couple more degrees right at dawn, but we certainly didn't get as cold as them. Course, they still have some snow on the ground and our dusting of yesterday is all gone.

Right now it's midnight and we have 26°. It is supposed to warm up over the next 10 days and be more seasonable. Don't worry, the hot, stinking, sticky, thick, humid, nasty heat of summer will be here soon enough. I think I've decided to like spring and fall best. Not bitter cold, not stinking hot, just warm sunshine, cool breezes, cool, crisp mornings, warm sunshiney days. Yep, that's what I like best.

March 7, 2007 - Wednesday

New Jersey Law #21 - Caldwell:   You may not dance or wear shorts on the main avenue.

New Jersey Law #22 - Cranford:   Citizens are not allowed to park their own boat on their lawn.

New Jersey Law #23 - Cresskill:   All cats must wear three bells to warn birds of their whereabouts.

Jimmy had a recheck at the doctor's office. The infection has abscessed and is still very serious, but it is draining very well, so he is hopeful that the worst is past and the antibiotic is the correct one. He has to have some more tests in a couple days, blood tests and stuff. The doctor is concerned that the healing is taking too long and there may be an underlying issue to deal with. So we're taking it a step at a time. Overall, Jimmy is feeling better, not currently running a fever and the redness had strunk considerably earlier today. Tonight it has spread abit again, so he re-dressed it and we're hoping that it is not spreading. Keep him in your prayers.

Otherwise another routine day around our house, worked on ironing today and some paperwork this afternoon. Jimmy went with Jessica to see her father who is visiting from Texas for a few days and they had a wonderful time.

Seth called to give us the latest updates on this years Storm Chase plans and other news. So all is well on the New Mexican home front also.

And we had a dusting of snow this morning! Can you BELIEVE that one???? In VIRGINIA????? In MARCH????? Yes, in Westminster that would not be big news at all, but VIRGINIA??? Yep, interesting spring. And it's 20° right now on my thermometer. AWESOME.

March 6, 2007 - Tuesday

New Jersey Law #18 - Blairstown:   Shooting ranges are outlawed.

New Jersey Law #19 - Blairstown:   No street side trees may be planted that "obscure the air".

New Jersey Law #20 - Blairstown:   It is illegal to throw ashes on the sidewalk.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Antibiotics are working well, fever is down and his pain has lessened. He is not out of the woods yet, but all indications are that the antibiotics are succeeding!!! I went to town and got a heating pad which he is supposed to use several times a day on the infection. But you could see he was feeling alot better today too.

Well, it was a good day because of 1) Jimmy is improving. 2) Jessica baked a birthday cake for me and they got me flowers and a ceramic cup with a lighthouse on it (which I love and collect)! Also a balloon and card and Jim got me a new monitor for my computer and I LOVE IT!!!!! My other one was about to die too. It had gotten so dark and sometimes the colors stayed blue or pink or greenish or it would fluctuate between the colors! This one is so bright that I almost need sunglasses!!!! Anyway, WOW! I love it!!!!

We had Chinese for my birthday supper (which is my FAVORITE!) ate some birthday cake, chocolate with chocolate icing, also my favorite, and watched a couple episodes of Buffy, Season 2. And Seth called to wish me a Happy Birthday too, so we got to talk for awhile. So it was a really enjoyable evening!!!

And I'm SO glad that Jimmy is doing better!

March 5, 2007 - Monday

New Jersey Law #15:   Automobiles are not to pass horse drawn carriages on the street.

New Jersey Law #16:   It is illegal to delay or detain a homing pigeon.

New Jersey Law #17 - Bernards Township:   It is illegal to frown as the town is a "Frown-Free Town Zone".

Been a busy day. Jimmy has been quite sick from an infection on his leg. Had to get him to a doctor when he started to run a fever. Started antibiotics this afternoon. Supposed to watch him all night for a spike in the fever and if it happens go to the ER. Hopefully, it won't come to that!

March 4, 2007 - Sunday

New Jersey Law #12:   The third Thursday of October is designated as "New Jersey Credit Union Day" and citizens of the state should observe the day with "appropriate activities and programs".

New Jersey Law #13:   Car dealerships are forbidden from opening on Sunday.

New Jersey Law #14:   You may not slurp your soup.

I try not to slurp my soup, but sometimes it can't be avoided. Am I in trouble? I suppose only if I eat soup in New Jersey!

Well, the clouds rolled in yesterday evening just in time to prevent viewing of the lunar eclipse. We didn't see any flurries, that I'm aware of, but the temperatures did drop below freezing during the night and it's currently only 39° at noon.

Last night we went to our church to see a group called "Ground Zero". The church was packed with folks standing in the back and up the sides of the church. Ground Zero is a youth ministry performed by young people ages 18-25 years old. They sign up for 9 month time periods, get 36 hours of college credit in the process. They live, eat, travel with this youth ministry during the 9 month period. No dating, no other jobs. They travel all around the country, but are based in Pennsylvania. They do Stomp, hip-hop, rap and a series of dramatic skits. It's really aimed for the younger generations and it's all about Jesus!

I'm not really a fan of hip-hop or rap, nor am I big on dramatic skits and stuff. However, I will say that I REALLY enjoyed their program. It's so wonderful to see these young people so dedicated to the Lord. It's wonderful to watch the effect they have on other young people in the audience! We saw about a dozen or so young people give their lives to Jesus last night. And I don't care that some may say the rap or hip-hop isn't what they want to hear. God's message reached that dozen young people through that style of music where it wouldn't have any other way!

By the way, I didn't know what "STOMP" was until last night. OH COOL!!!!! I REALLY LOVED the STOMP!!!! They beat on trash cans and play a song in percussion. And while there is nothing but the beat of the trashcans, it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I have never seen anything like it in my life!!!! And they were perfect. Never missed a beat, never a hesitation or extra missed beats. And they had 9 of them doing it and two of the girls in front were beating the lids together, they would "duel" like they were using swords, with the lids. They would spin around and clash as they spun, never once missing a beat. IT WAS AWESOME!!! That was my favorite part. I also liked a couple of the skits alot. So what can I say?

Anyway, what a great ministry for young people. We needed to stop at the grocery store after the program, which was over around 9:30 pm. So 15 mins to arrive at the store, walked around for about 25 mins then headed home, arriving a little after 11 pm. So busy day, night, but very enjoyable.

Today was a routine Sunday around our house. I worked on the computer, sorted some papers and watched the new "Poseidon" movie! I really enjoyed it. Quiet day, but relaxing.

March 3, 2007 - Sabbath

New Jersey Law #9:   It is against the law to "frown" at a police officer.

New Jersey Law #10:   In an attempt to "foster kindness" in the citizens of New Jersey, the month of May is designated "Kindness Awareness Month".

New Jersey Law #11:   If you have been convicted of driving while intoxicated, you may never again apply for personalized license plates.

I think maybe the Almanac missed it for the first 4 days of March. Where's my flurries? Where's my cold weather? We hit 75° yesterday (the 2nd). I don't really feel like we had a good winter this year once again. Yes, we had some ice. Yes, we had a little snow. Yes, we had a couple weeks of below freezing temperatures. But we should have at least 3 months of cold temperatures. We should get at least one show-stopper snowfall. No ice. Let's not talk about ice. And now we're heading into humid spring. Don't get me wrong. I love these mornings where I can have the windows open and listen to the birds singing and the squirrels fussing as I'm getting up. I love the flowers starting to poke through the ground and blooming. Actually, my flowers are already up about 6" with blooms about ready to burst open. But this shouldn't be spring. This should be"March winds". You know, that bring on "April showers" that bring on "May flowers".....

Actually so far today it has reached into the low 60's but with the wind it feels alot cooler.

Tonight there is a full eclipse of the moon. It should be in progress as the moon breaks the horizon in the East. But the weather may not permit viewing. Weathermen say that it will cloud up drop down to around 31° and flurries, my flurries, will fill the air. By the time the folks on the West Coast can see the moon, the eclipse will be about over.

Speaking of the moon, tonight's full moon at 6:17 pm EST is known as the Full Worm Moon. In this month the ground softens and the earthworm casts reappear, inviting the return of the robins. The more northern Indian tribes knew this as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signals the end of winter, or the Full Crust Moon because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation.

No thanks needed for this valuable service. It's provided free of charge for your convenience.

March 2, 2007 - Friday

New Jersey Law #6:   All motorists must honk before passing another car, bicyclist, skater and even a skateboarder.

New Jersey Law #7:   You cannot pump your own gas.

New Jersey Law #8:   It is against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.

OK all you male knitters, no knitting during fishing season! So unbelievable. And the pumping gas thing. My youngest son used to work at a gas station, gift shop, restuarant, truck stop place, which for now will go unnamed. One of the things that he used to tell us about was how the New Jersey folks would come in asking for the "boy" to pump their gas. Used to crack them all up!!! Personally, I wish I didn't have to pump my own gas. Didn't have to when I first got a car many years ago. But of course, if you had someone else to pump it, that would just give the oil companies a reason to jack up the price again. I couldn't believe it, why was my gas 20¢ higher this week than about 10 days ago? It's absolutely CRAZY.

The storms blew through our part of Virginia and I never knew it. I slept through it all, so it must not have been bad in this part of the state! We apparently lost power several times according to my son, Jimmy. And then today it was still quite breezy and we lost power for about 2 hours due to downed trees. Otherwise, we were very fortunate. Sad to say the folks in Alabama and Georgia were not so lucky. Bad tornadoes. Probably other areas hit also that didn't make the news. Anyway our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.

Otherwise, around the power outages, it was a routine day at the Price household. I worked on laundry, dishes and normal Friday housework. It never gets done, but I try to make a small dent in it occasionally.

Jimmy had mid-term exams today and Seth called from NM with the latest news updates! Did I mention he is going to China in May? He's pretty excited about it and he will hopefully join the storm chase in progress on his return. So exciting times for him this spring! Jimmy starts spring break and I believe he is truly looking forward to it. However, his one professor has assigned 12 essays to be written during the break. I ask you, what kind of BREAK is that????

I'm still trying to make headway on all the paperwork that has piled up since last June when I broke my ankle. You would be amazed at how many receipts and things can pile up. I am somewhat of an organizational nut. Not that my house is that organized. Oh no. But I save everything. Like receipts, at least until I log them into the computer. Why? Who knows. But I do. Even the little prescription thingys. I save those and log them into a word document just to track what medicines I take and how much they cost etc. Don't ASK me WHY. I don't have a clue. I just do it.

And I wonder why I never have enough time to get all my housework done..................Perhaps I'm looking for ways to avoid housework????

March 1, 2007 - Thursday

New Jersey Law #3:   Handcuffs may not be sold to minors.

New Jersey Law #4:   It is illegal to wear a bullet-proof vest while committing a murder.

New Jersey Law #5:   One must yield a phone line to a person if it is an emergency.

On March the 3rd at 6:17 pm EST you will witness the "Full Worm Moon". I'll go into an explanation on the 3rd of the month!

If you didn't finish reading my February journal, you can find my words of wisdom on the "Archives" page, see above!

Now you may ask, why did I put Bluejays on the top of this month's journal? Here's the first reason: they're blue. And the 2nd reason is: we have som many of them in our yard and I keep trying to chase them away. When we put out seed and peanuts for the birds, the bluejays come and literally swallow whole, everything on the platform. They will eat it until it comes out the other end undigested. They will eat it just so the other birds won't get it. So I chase them away as often as I see them on the feeders. But they come anyway and they're pretty. Bluejays have to eat also, I suppose.

It's a new month and we are continuing with the Weird State Laws, currently New Jersey. I have quite a few for this state, so will continue for about a third of the month. Sorry Jersey folks, I'm going to do all 50 states and you are just one of them. I have relatives and ancestors who lived and live in New Jersey. That's why I did my home states first, so you wouldn't think I'm just picking on your state!

Just because I found SO many for New Jersey...... Oh, just deal with it.

So did March come in as a Lion or Lamb in your part of the country? If you're wondering what that means, well, coming in as a lion is stormy, windy and such weather. I usually think of the lion part as a very windy day, even if it's sunny too. A lamb would of course be the opposite, calm, warm, sunny and beautiful spring day. So if it comes in as a lion, it will go out as a lamb. If it comes in as a lamb, it will go out as a lion. Brace yourselves!

Here in our part of the Commonwealth, it came in as a lamb. It started as a sunny morning, giving away to clouds mid-morning. Temperatures hovered in the upper 40's for the most part and actually hit 50° around 7 pm. So for us the end of the month will go out like a lion. Folks down in the southern states had a roaring lion today. Bad tornadoes and storms, so our thoughts and prayers are with these folks!

We have storms coming for us, our severe storm-possible tornadoes are for later tonight, actually early tomorrow morning. The alert we received stated that they may activate us spotters and the greatest time of danger will be between 3 am and 8 am tomorrow morning. It's a pretty healthy storm system headed towards the east so I might not sleep much tonight.

And for all you Christmas lovers out there....298 shopping days left!!!
