Earthquake Note:
The statistics used for the Daily Worldwide Earthquake Totals includes the latest Earthquakes Magnitude 2.5 or Greater in the United States and Adjacent Areas and Magnitude 4.5 or Greater in the Rest of the World.

Daily PHA Note:
Potentially Hazard Asteroids (PHA's)are space rocks larger than approximately 100m (size) that can come closer to Earth than 0.05 AU. None of the known PHAs is on a collision course with our planet, although astronomers are finding new ones all the time. 1 AU is the distance of earth to the sun, so 0.05 AU is basically about 1/20th the distance from earth to sun. So the numbers I will be displaying, hopefully daily, will represent asteroids that are passing closer to earth than 1/20th the distance between the earth and sun and could be potentially hazardous to life on earth.

One Meter = 39.37 inches (just over a yard!).
AU = Distance from earth to sun.
LD (Lunar Distance) = The distance from earth to the moon,
384,401 km or 234,484.61 miles (a km, kilometer is .61 of a mile).

Volcanoes Note:
How many active volcanoes known?
Erupting now: perhaps 20
Each year: 50-70
Each decade: about 160
Historical eruptions: about 550

These figures do not include the large number of eruptions (and undescribed volcanoes) on the deep sea floor. Estimates of global magma budgets suggest that roughly 3/4 of the lava reaching Earth's surface does so unnoticed at submarine mid-ocean ridges.

Sorry that I haven't done as much journaling this month. Been pretty busy. Yeah, and too many hours at my "farm". I had renamed my farm the other day at Jim's suggestion. The new name is..... Wastin Time Ranch!!! Kinda catchy, huh?

Some are dropping off Farm Town. Once you achieve the Level 34, there is nothing else to do. They will either have to add more levels and incentives for those folks who are competitive.... uh... well, like me.... or they will lose their players. It's definitely an addictive game. But, how many fields can you plow and plant over and over again, with no more Experience Points counting up and nothing else to spend the coins on???? How many trees, flowers, and animals can you have in a 24x24 square?

Laundry, vacuuming, and more boring housework. Summer days are SO-O-O-O long. Can't stand the heat or being outside. If I was at a beach, well, that might be a different story!!! But I'll stay in my AC thank ye.

OK, OK. I still have to go outside sometimes. But usually I limit to morning or late afternoon, early evening.

Am I addicted to Farm Town? Yep. You know you're addicted when you plan your meals around the harvests.

SARYCHEV PEAK VOLCANO: Perfect timing. On June 12th, just as Russia's Sarychev Peak volcano was erupting for the first time in 20 years, the International Space Station flew directly overhead. Astronauts had their camera ready and snapped one of the most dramatic Earth-science photos ever taken from space:

Researchers are studying this rare photo to learn about the early stages of powerful volcanic eruptions. A few phenomena stand out:

(1) The volcano erupted with such force, the plume actually punched through the atmosphere. Note how clouds around the volcano have parted in a circular ring--that is a result of a shock wave produced by the upward blast. (2) The plume is a mixture of brown ash and white steam. A "dirty thunderstorm" complete with lightning could be in progress within the roiling cloud. (3) The smooth white bubble on top of the plume is probably a mass of water condensing from air shoved upward by the rising ash column. If so, it is akin to the iridescent pileus clouds sometimes featured on spaceweather.com. -- From the SpaceWeather.com website on this date. Check it out!!!

Went to visit my parents today. We had planned on visiting Jim's mom, but she wasn't up to the company today. So we visited his Dad's gravesite and just made a day for us!!! We ate breakfast on the road at Cracker Barrel and that's ALWAYS a treat! Well, that's the first time we've done it on our trip to visit family, but still!!!! We had a very enjoyable day. Got home around 6:30 or so, I forget now. I'm tired, can you tell?

Flag Day

Level 26 achieved in Farm Town. Even though you need more experience points to step up to the next levels, it's easier as your farm grows because of plowing and replanting! Those experience points really start to add up as your farm size increases and you have more crops available.

Happy Anniversary Dad & Dot!!!!

Happy Birthday Cousin Joanna!!!!

Dad says he's doing ok and is glad to be home! I'm glad he's feeling better, I knew getting home would help that too!!!

Now I have my temps and rainfall updated (well, not in this journal yet!) as well as the PHA's and earthquake totals. Farm Town is progressing well, I'm at Level 24 now. I want to reach Level 25. To me that is the most important level as you can then plant pumpkins (the last of the crops available as well as the best $$ producer in the game). You can also expand your farm to the 24x24 size, which is the largest you can grow. After that it's all just gravy, bigger houses, more things like paths and rivers and misc. farm equipment. I really don't care so much about that. Just want to get to the pumpkins. After that, and the expansion, my goal will be maintaining the balance and beautifying the place by adding some of the creeks and pools etc.

In case you're wondering, Jimmy & I have been competiting abit on Farm Town! Of course, it's not much of a competition as he is always way WAY ahead of me. But it's fun anyway!!!!

There was an earthquake today measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale in VANUATU.

Dad came home from the hospital this afternoon. First thing he did was check out his garden, which looked very good!! All the rain we've been having was good for gardens!

I came back home late this afternoon. Jim had teased me that they were running out of dishes, but I reminded him that there was some clean ones in the dishwasher!! To my happy surprise, he had done all the dishes before I got home!!!!

Now laundry is another story!
