Earthquake Note:
The statistics used for the Daily Worldwide Earthquake Totals includes the latest Earthquakes Magnitude 2.5 or Greater in the United States and Adjacent Areas and Magnitude 4.5 or Greater in the Rest of the World.
Daily PHA Note:
Potentially Hazard Asteroids (PHA's)are space rocks larger than approximately 100m (size) that can come closer to Earth than 0.05 AU. None of the known PHAs is on a collision course with our planet, although astronomers are finding new ones all the time. 1 AU is the distance of earth to the sun, so 0.05 AU is basically about 1/20th the distance from earth to sun. So the numbers I will be displaying, hopefully daily, will represent asteroids that are passing closer to earth than 1/20th the distance between the earth and sun and could be potentially hazardous to life on earth.
One Meter = 39.37 inches (just over a yard!).
AU = Distance from earth to sun.
LD (Lunar Distance) = The distance from earth to the moon,
384,401 km or 234,484.61 miles (a km, kilometer is .61 of a mile).
Volcanoes Note:
How many active volcanoes known?
Erupting now: perhaps 20
Each year: 50-70
Each decade: about 160
Historical eruptions: about 550
These figures do not include the large number of eruptions (and undescribed volcanoes) on the deep sea floor. Estimates of global magma budgets suggest that roughly 3/4 of the lava reaching Earth's surface does so unnoticed at submarine mid-ocean ridges.

Today is the 11th anniversary of when Seth totaled my Nova. He was on his way to work at Kings Dominion on a bright sunny Sunday morning when he lost control of the car and ran off the road, up a small embankment and rolled the car twice, landing upside down. When he called to tell me they had been in an accident and the car was upside down, I said no, it wasn't. He said "mom, the car is totaled and it's upside down in the ditch." I told him it wasn't. Seems like my brain just couldn't wrap itself around the concept. But I was wrong. It was upside down in the ditch.
Seems like some angels worked overtime that day, protecting Seth and his friend. They walked away with minor scraps and bruises. God is good!!!!
And I had it marked as the 10th anniversary and Seth reminded me it was the 11th anniversary.... My math is bad tonight!
Otherwise today, I folded some clothes, cooked meals, worked on the computer awhile and watched a couple movies with Jim. Quiet uneventful day.

Happy Independence Day !!!!
Let's remember what this day really stands for, and those who fought for our freedoms over 200 years ago. And we want to honor also those who are still fighting for our freedoms. And on that note, hope everyone is having a great Holiday!
There was an earthquake today measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale in PANAMA.
We spent a quiet day, didn't go to the fireworks. I'm not a big fan of crowds, though I enjoy seeing the fireworks. We saw some really good ones when we first came to Virginia. And some spectacular ones out in Albuquerque, back in October 2007 while visiting Seth, at the "Glow" evening of the Hot Air Balloon Festival. That was really Cool!!!
Well, contrary to popular belief, I'm going to go clean up the kitchen, well, the dishes anyway. I've already worked my Farm on FB so nothing else I can do to stall. Dishes, here I come.

What is the problem with the satellite? No internet again this afternoon. So you'll read all this after the fact, since I can't possibly put it online at this time. This is getting to be a pain. I miss FB. I miss FT. My crops will perish..... Sigh. Oh well, it's only a game, it's only a game, it's only a game......
