I became fascinated with quilting around 1985, when we first moved to Westminster, Maryland. As with many of my hobbies, I get quite "gung-ho" about any new interest. I have actually only completed a couple of baby quilts. However, I have several quilts partially done. (On my "To Do List" to be completed!) I have blocks cut out and "pinned" ready to sew, for each of the 50 states. I traced the states off of a huge wall map, enlarged them, cut them out in material. Later I plan to add state flowers, birds, trees etc all with embroidery. I was going to do two of these quilts, so I have 100 blocks ready to go.
I have about 50 quilted potholders ready to stitch together, add binding around the border and to hand quilt. I have T-shirts that I've saved since my sons were toddlers, (of their favorite shirts over the years), all cut out ready to piece together. I have at least two baby quilts ready to be pieced. This is awful! And this is just the quilting. And I have several more drawn out on paper that I want to do, like a lighthouse quilt, a log cabin and a double wedding ring. I also hope to work on a mariner's compass and bear claw. These have always been some of my favorite traditional quilts. I also have several crochet projects, unfinished. But that's information for another page.
I will post on these pages some of the applique and quilting patterns that I have collected or designed on paper as well as photos of the finished and unfinished products. I'm not an expert, barely an amateur on quilting. But I just love quilts!
Over the years I have collected literally hundreds of quilting patterns, applique patterns and more. I even want to do some miniature quilting for dollhouses. Also on my "To Do List" is quilted covers for kitchen appliances and placemats for the table....
I need to live to be 200 years old!
