Mary Walton Ricketts was the dau. of William Ricketts, of Westmoreland and Ridgeland, Jamaica, West Indies, and New York city. His will, dated 1734, was proved * Dec. 1735. He is buried in Trinity Churchyard in NYC. He lived on the NE corner of Nassau and John Streets, NYC. He mar. 1712 Mary/Maria Walton who's will was dated 1740.

William Ricketts is the son of Capt. (Parliamentary Army) William Henry Rickards/Ricketts, bapt.8 Aug. 1633, at Combe, Herefordshire, England, d. 8 July 1700, Elizabethtown, NJ, m. 1678, Mary Goodwin* b. ca. 1662, d. 1758.

Capt. William Henry Ricards/Ricketts was the son of Col. (Royalist Army) Thomas Anthony Ricards, b. ca. 1589/90 at Staffordshire, England. Killed 1646 in the siege of Lichfield, england. He m. ca. 1618-1632 Elizabeth Rugely, of Ridgely, Sataffordshire, England.

Col.Thomas Anthony Ricards was the son of Oswald Ricards (no dates.)

* Mary Goodwin was the dau. of Robert Goodwin, of Winchendon, Buckinghamshire, England.

Robert Goodwin was the son of Sir Francis Goodwin, KT, and Lady Elizabeth Grey.

Lady Elizabeth Grey was the dau. of Sir Aurthur Grey, KG, b. 1536, Hammes, near Calais, d. 14 Oct. 1593, at Whaddon, buckinghamshire, England. Mar. ca. 1553 Dorothy LaZouche.

Lady Elizabeth Grey is the daughter of Sir Thomas Arthur Grey, KG, Lord Grey of Wilton b. 1536, at Hammes, near Calais, d. 14 Oct. 1593, at Whaddon, Buckinghamshire, England. He m. 1553 Dorothy LaZouche. (I shall include her line at a later date.)

Thomas Arthur Grey, KG, was the son of William Grey, KG, Lord Grey of Wilton, b. 109. d. 14/15 Dec. 1562, at cheshunt, Hertfordshire, england. Buried in the church at Cheshunt. He mar. Lady Mary Somerset. (I shall include her line at a later date,)

Sir William Grey was the son of Edmund Grey, KG, 9th Lord Grey of Wilton, b. ca. 5 May 1511, m. ca. 1505 Florences Hastings. (Mre on her line later.)

Sir Edmund Grey was the son of John Grey, KG, 8th Lord Grey of Wilton, d. 3 Apr. 1499 m/ (1st wife) Lay Anne Grey [sic]. (More on her line later.)

Sir John Grey is the son of Sir Reynold Grey, Lord Grey of Wilton, b. ca. 1422, d. 22 Feb. 1493/4 at Bletchley Castle. He is also buried there. He m. bef. 6 Oct. 1447 Tacyn Beaufort. (More on her line later,) Ref. "Cockayne's Peerage, vol. 6.

Sir Reynold Grey is the son of Richard Grey, Lord Grey of wilton, b. by 1393, d. 13 or 20 Aug. 1442, bur. in Bletchley church. His will is dated 12 Aug. 1442. He m. (1st wife) Blanche de la Vache, d. bef. 1427. (More on her line later)

Richard Grey is the son of Sir Henry deGrey, Lord Grey of Wilton on Wye, b. by 1340. d. 22 apr. 1396. He m. 10 jan. 1401, Elizabeth deTalbot. (more on her line later.)

I have visited both Bletchley Church, where there is an effigy of one of our Grey ancestors, and I have also walked the grounds of the ruins of Wilton Castle in Wilton-on-Wye.

Sir Henry deGrey is the son of Reynold deGrey, Lord Grey of Wilton, b. 1 Nov. 1311. d. 4 June 1370, at Shirland, England. He m. bef. 10 Jan. 1327/8 Maud Botetourt of Wesley, d. 14 Sept. 1391, at Shirland, England. (She is the dau. of John deBotetourt.)

Reynold deGrey is the son of Henry deGrey, Lord of Wilton, b. 28 Oct. 1286, d. 10 to 16 Dec. 1342. He mar. Anne Rockley, dau. of Ralph deRockley and Isabel deClare.

Henry deGrey, is the son of John deGrey, Lord Grey of Wilton, b. by 1268 at wilton, s. 28 Oct. 1323. He mar. Anne deFerrers. (More on her line later.)

John deGrey is the son of Reginald deGrey, Lord Grey of Wilton, d. ca. 1272. He was Justice of Chester. He mar. Maud Longchamp. (More on her line later.) Ref. Dugdale's "Baronage of England."

Reginald deGrey is the son of John deGrey, Justice of Chester, b. 1205 at Shirland, Derbyshire, England. d. ca. 18 Mar. 1266, at Shirland, Derbyshire. He m. Emma deGlanville, dau. of Geoffrey deGlanville, Lord of Bromholm.

John deGrey is the son of Henry deGrey (living in 1199) who mar. Isolda deBardolph.

I haven't continued on the royal lines because they go everywhere in Europe and as far back as Charlemagne and earlier. The earliest documented ancestor I (we) have is Afranicus Syagrius, a Gallo-Roman Senator in the 300s A.D. But to continue with the much more recent ones are:

John deBaliol was the son of Hugh deBaliol. "Certain it was that he benefitted himself not a little in those troublesome times of King John's reign (being then for the King) for when all was at quiet, at the entrance of Henry III, he could not forbear his wonted course of plungering." Hugh deBaliol was the son of Eustace deBaliol, who mar. the widow of Robert FitzPiers.
